Hi all!

yes i cannot resist but yet do another shameless act by starting this thread!I can't call this the official thread because yup i didn't get any permission to do so.. haha.. I personally really enjoy their album "Flight of Transcendence" and witness them live a couple of times. It's the music that motivates me alot..I don't call myself a die-hard fan that knows every bit of detail about them but i hope this thread will help all of us know them better.

Now, you might be thinking i must be their friend or something.. nope, i know non of them and i am sure they'll be pretty surprise about this fan thread. Well, Zero Sequence if you are reading this i gotta tell you it's because of the good music you did that motivated me to start this thread.

Another reason why i started this thread is because recently i'm working hard on writing songs for my band and i find them inspiring! Though i'll get lost in the songs but it relieves me from the stress on writing songs for my band's album..

Alrite fans! let's start the thread rolling with feeding all their info that you know here! Pictures,Sound Clips,Youtube links and Latest news totally welcome!

Thank you for starting this thread! :)

The band has 2 more shows this year. Do drop by and support if you can! Thanks!

Bro Rover bro put together a short documentary for the recording of the album:

I believe there's a longer cut of this documentary. And there's supposed to be a video of 'Transcendence' which we shot last Nov (I was a Calefare in the shoot) and has never seen the light of the day? Right hor, bro Rover bro, hor?

The album was great, though the guitar was rather drowned out. Other than that, I think the whole band is dead solid, watching them live is awesome. Love the medleys they throw in for their live shows each time I watch them.

Solid solid solid band, I am envious and inspired. That documentary's damn cool.

ew....

Great Band, Great Bunch of Musician, Nice people too. The album is reali reali cool, love every single trax in it. especially the drum worx are reali awesome. Should hv watch em' playing LIVE..!!!!!!! realli Extraordinary..

Good thread.. Can give you all some history on 2 of the blokes hehe.

Simon (3rd guy from the left with arms raised)- Ridiculously polite always from the first day I met him with his beat up kapok guitar in 1997-1998 under a dodgy void deck area in CCK. He is a friend of my old band's guitarist and that was how we were introduced to each other. Simon loved Led Zep, Deep purple and bell bottoms and was amazingly technical although he was just a guitar noob then ( started playing guitar for a few months only). He used to be in Turqoise flame, a psuedo deep purple tribute band, and most of the members in that band were my childhood friends. Used to hang out in Seng Chai alot , and both our bands would play at almost the same gigs- Youth Park, etc.And sometimes even the same songs at the same gig!(Fire-Jimi Hendrix, Grand Funk) WTH.

However, till now he does not take himself seriously , and is always there to chip in an offbeat smile or comment when theres too much silence. I dunno, I feel many local "musicians" nowadays think of themselves as the bees knees, but this simon has never been like that. Weird but cool.

Ezal (1st guy from the left)- I met him also during the same time, as he was also the keyboardist for Turqoise flame then. Very intelligent, totally humble , if only all musicians could learn from his attitude. If you think he kicks ass in keyboards, you should check out his guitar skills. He has an unhealthy obsession with Slash I think hahah. Always approachable and laid back and willing to help out. Awesome gentleman!(Thanks for lending my your crybaby once when I had an emergency gig and mine was spoilt)

I knew the previous bassist and drummer pretty well too, but I think they are all like married now and have settled down with their families. This new set up rocks nonetheless.

Great band, really nice guys as well. I caught them many times during their jams while writing the songs for their CD. Stood at the door for quite a bit to admire the process and of course their chops.

I met Simon through their old guitar player Marc. Both are really killer guitar players, hope we get to see the dual guitar line up again in the future. Enjoy watching them live alot. To me, that's where their magic really comes in. Live shows.

Bassist Reuel, was from the same poly as i was and i was introduced to him through my classmates who were in the same band as he was. The now defunct, Soul'd Out. Imran the drummer, we jammed a long time back with Bani Hidir. He was on bass that time. The next time i saw him, he was kicking ass and takin names on the guitar and did the same on the drums. Its ridiculous how good this guy is at so many instruments.

nice gr3y.. i got the same situation as u too.. but i only know Imran.. brilliant guy.. love the band.. #1 in my list man.. =D

Da best band in Singapore! Best way to show support is to buy their album and buy another 10 for your friends

I checked out their myspace, and heard a couple of their songs. I have to say I am very impressed. Possibly one of the best Singaporean bands out there currently. Keep up the excellent job.

...where can I find their album?

i bought mine @ sembawang and never regret buying it. :)

Yes they are probably the best band in Singapore so far.. Too many bands out there try too hard to look and "sound" different but i say these people don't know what they are doing.

Anyway we have our own meat :) So just support your favourite SG bands!

I watched their live performances at the esplande powerhouse back in april.
I was WOW-ed. It was very inspiring to me as a young musician.
Rock on!!!

'Flight Of Transcendence' is available at EarShot @ the Arts House, Gramophone (there are a few copies left at the one at the Design Centre/ City Hall MRT), Roxy Records, Sinema @ Old School, Straits Records and Sembawang Music Centre (we heard the one at Plaza Singapura is rather low on stocks).

Hi there Gr3y,

Thank you for this thread. It touches my heart. We are not worthy. Since you made such an effort to start this thread, I'll make my effort to contribute something (I hardly have time for "SOFT-surfing" these days).

Gr3y, just keep playing and practicing and writing while you still have the time and heart to do it. I am never a good musician and I only wish I had proper music training when I was younger. I can't read, I can't chart, I am self-taught, and I am not talented. Like my good old friend snuffleupagus (my shifu) said earlier, I started with a beat up Kapok guitar (30 or 40 bucks only, budget lah, those days I roamed around on the streets one) finally decided that the guitar would be my best companion.

I almost died from a head injury from an accident some 15 years back and the doctor said it will affect my memory badly. I struggle alot to play something that I've already learned cos I tend to forget them easily. And it doesn't help much when I'm so tied up with work that eats into my practice time. It takes alot really, alot of hard work, discipline, and devotion.

I am very grateful and privileged to have met and played with some of the most humble and amazing musicians along the way. When you start thinking you're good, think again, cos there are so many more people who are better than you.

I always feel one's playing and writing style comes from his/her life experiences. Sometimes you can really tell a person's character just by listening to his/her playing! Once again, thank you all for the support. We hope you enjoy our music as much as we enjoyed writing them!

To Gr3y, all the best to your band's upcoming album. Believe in yourself and believe in your bandmates. BTW what is your band name ah?
