i think levan had like a thread somewhere about how to gain sucess internationally or something?im jus kinda intrested to know what and how our fellow musicians get their small but loyal fanbase.what are the tips and all.jus intrest to know.haha.not for tha glamour or what.and try to keep the negativity of 'the audience doesnt stay for our set' and all that in this thread.heard that before.lets hear the positivty parts

excuse me for not being more helpful with my usual constructive posts , lately no one takes me seriously when I'm serious and ppl only pay attention with my one factual liners + a tinge of sarcasm...

but first things first before I get flamed, "astroninja" did make a hentai music video , it's lurking somewhere on youtube. 2ndly naming their songs like bukkake udon etc with sexual nature because sex sells.some sort of marketing strategy probably.

I can't say anything right now to tell you "how to gain international success" cos I don't even play an instrument not even in a band.usually local bands go as far as regional areas (malaysia/indonesia. at most thailand) some others get to go further to japan/taiwan. then there's those that make it to the "rockstarland" california/USA but just to "drown" in the overpopulation of american talent over there. the best person i assume to give us details is probably those bigger guns often read on TV and seen on radio and heard on the newspaper like electrico/greatspy/david sparkle etc. but from my view mainly, I'm thinking more of a case of marketing/advertising networking strategy and funding game.there's more talent totally unheard of / or were never given a chance (E.g susan boyle). bigshot producers can't be travelling all the time to scout for talent. the person/band has to DO SOMETHING to catch a bigshot producer's attention before any celebrity-grooming establishment is made.

but regional wise, like your post enquires about "loyal fanbase". it's from the sincerity in your music and your band's character/image. if you're a clown band, listeners probably won't take your music seriously. if you pass off as a group of longtime-bonded-friends-band with chemistry like blink182/greenday or local band plainsunset. no matter how simple or stupid your songs are, as long as you're humble (cut the rockstar shit) you will have the following and respect you deserve.

music is a passion. what keeps music going in this reality check world as of lately : is business.

everything I've said is my opinion and point of view, I'd like to declare first hand I'm no expert for my "analysis" to represent more than my own mindset.. unless more ppl agree with what I say la...

I so agree with blue.....Its all about business. I'm sure that there are many great bands/talent out there in SG but the fact is we get screwed over cos labels don't put in effort to promote export as much as they promote import.

Of course who can blame them really, imports are easier to sell thus, with the typical business-minded CEO, the company's profit is what matters most.

So ask yourself really, what kind of band/artist would YOU like to be? Bedroom musician? House band? Or big international superstar? Everything comes with a price today.

To get fans, produce good music. they will come. See need how long only.

P.S. No offence. But to get famous on soft, scold James. Opps. =X
