Hi all, just wondering if i should get zildjian ZBT crash cymbal. i've tried it out before on a drum kit (at yamaha when i was taking lessons) and it sounded pretty good ... i know its only entry-level, but i think Zildjian only makes bronze stuff don't they ... so is it decent?

also, consider my budget of ~200 dollars?

what type of alloy is the ZBTs?

and if you would i would appreciate if you can tell me about any decent mid-range cymbals with that budget (secondhand for higher-level cymbals of cuz :D)

Yes you are right there, ZBT are entry level cymbals. They are sheet made cymbals made in mind for those starting out and the budget-conscious. With your budget of 200, you can easily afford something from the professional lines or semi-pro lines.

ZBTs are B8 cymbals 92% copper 8% tin. Under Zildjian, their ZHT and Armand lines are somewhat semi-pro. There are also Sabian Xs20 (midrange cymbals) as well as Paiste as well. Those 2nd hand can easily be within ur budget.

Just a little bit of helpful tip here for you - that is if you plan on upgrading, upgrade your timekeepers (hi-hats, ride) then the crashes. Cos after all those are your 'staple' cymbals as compared to crashes. Hope this helped!

Oops my bad there. I must have typed without realisation. Armand is the 5th Zildjian pro line after the A, A Customs, K and K Customs. My bad there.

What's your take on the A customs and K customs? do you think i can afford a 16 to 18 inch crash for either of them second hand, with a budget of maybe 250?

If you keep a sharp-eye lookout for the Drums-BuySell Forums for used cymbals, yes, you will be able to get a used K Custom 16 to 18 inch crash for around your budget, if you are lucky and fast. Mind you, those items go very fast :)

By itself, all cymbals sound different and have their own use in different accosutic environments but I find the K Custom blends the best in a recording environmnet alongside a band.

Don't get the zbt. If i'm not wrong in the buy/sell section right now, there's a 16" K dark thin crash going for $250. I would have gotten it but I'm looking for something bigger
