pentatonics. Cos that's the only thing I can play confidently.

Pentatonics at first (I think just like almost everyone learning lead, right?)
Then now more chromatic. I just feel i can basically play anywhere i want (my ears want) but more or less based on the pentatonic. So like start pentatonic, then go slide/bend/wank around and go back to pentatonic again and end on how i'd end in a pentatonic

You should check out marty friedman's instructional.. i think the one before the 99licks one.. Really teaches you how to solo, instead of just showing you some licks. Like how to follow the chord progression instead of just sticking to the key using arpegios.

As for myself I mainly use the major/minor scale and of course pentatonics. I haven't got into learning modes.

i did what Breed do ... just do it ... the old fashion way wud b just listen to the songs and catch the tune ... :lol: very time consuming ...

but nowadays with computers and lotsa software ... it's much more easier ... :lol:
