Your favourite tuning

Hi everyone,

Decided to start a thread where we can share our favourite guitar tunings! Also state the music you play and why that tuning is preferred. I'll start...

I just got my guitar set-up to use standard D (DGCFAD) tuning and gauge 10 strings, because I play mostly hard rock and metal so D is like an in-between for me: not too low, not too high. And I also play soft rock and alt rock stuff so all I have to do is slap on a capo on the 2nd fret. So the key for me is versatility.

i like mine to be at half-step(think jimi hendrix and SRV) and drop C tuning(Killswitch Enagage,August Burns Red,As I Lay Dying)

i play alternate core, elements of inner and other.

tuning above preferred cos its hard to get on my tuner, but when it does, it will empower me with mystique force of unnatural playing, on the geetar

tried DADGAD tuning before on my acoustic. pretty cool.

i use half step down (Eb)

Sounds rather nicer to Standard! i do Goth Rock/Metal, so dat tuning really sounds better!

Haha then you should try D standard. Really heavy tone.

But in the end I hardtailed my guitar's tremolo so I can do drop-D, standard E and standard D. Lovin' the simplicity of hardtail.

if lets say im using gauge 09s now on an ibanez guitar...and i intend to drop my tuning to say...standard C, with string gauges 10s-52s. will the extra tension make anything happen to my guitar (on both drop and standard tunings)? or do i specifically have to go to a shop to cater it to drop tunings?

im still considering on which axe i wanna drop tune. but most probably on my ibanez which is a RG321 with a fixed bridge. possible?

dont want to drop tune my PRS custom 24 because the thing has a tremmy...
