Yeah as the title goes. Share your favourite strings! For me:

Electric: Ernie Ball Super Slinky electric 9s
Acoustic: Ernie Ball Super Slinky acoustic 10s

Also liked:
- D'Addario Phosphor bronze acoustic (my main acoustic set for a good four to five years before switching to Ernie Balls since D'addarios die dang fast)
- Dean Markley Vintagebronze acoustic (used briefly, sounded nice but died dang fast)
- GHS Bright bronze acoustic

Didn't like:
- Dean Markley Alchemy GoldBronze acoustic (hated those strings)
- GHS Silk and steel acoustic (hated those strings)

Haven't tried anything else so far but... So what strings do you guys love?

the main concern i have for strings is that they MUST last long.

ive been searching for such strings over the years and i have only just recently discovered them

Elixir strings are the bomb!! I have been playing them daily for the past 9 weeks and i just give my guitar a quick wipedown after use and it still has no signs of rust on them. The other strings i tried which were supposed to be "specially treated" for long life all died within 3 weeks of use.

The elixirs feel a little slippery when first put on, but after about 1-2 days of playing, they start feeling like regular strings which last extra long.

If you are put off by the price, there is a forumite "brendon" who sells them for CHEAP. Thats the reason why i decided to try them in the first place and wont look back!

Regularly used guitars:
DRs Titewound. Love the brightness, tension and last quite ok.
Electro Harmonix, decent strings, cheap (for me that is!)

Guitars that are played once a year or none at all:
Elixirs, cos they is the LASTINGZ foreverz. Know the feeling of pulling out an unplayed guitar just for old time sake and the strings are rusty, dead and you don't wanna play it at all? Elixir is the solution. Ditto to get from Brandon.

for my electric:
Curt Mangan .95s
They last quite well for me.

Used to use D'addarios..but they get ugly after a few weeks. And I mean rusty. Curt Mangan's usually just turn black then the rust comes after a month or so.

Yeah,I recommend Curt Mangan strings..they don't break as often as D'addarios too.

I used to use Electro-Harmonix alot last time. But they usually rust badly too,and break VERY easily. I use .10s for E-H Strings.

I use curt mangans or deans.

9s with 46s...

I used to use slinkys in the earlier days.. but i found that ernie ball sounds great only for a short period of time.. after some time they lose it. and they rust easily. i guess alot of pro players use ernie balls is because they have a tech head that changes their strings before every show.

so for me.. curt mangans the ammo of choice.

Hmm.

For electrics, I prefer Ernie Ball Hybrid slinkies (organe coloured package): wiggly tops and nice, big bottoms (no sexual innuendo intended). I always wipe them down, the usual dunlop string cleaner after 3-4 playing sessions etc and before stowing them away.

For acoustic, I've recently tried out a set of John Pearse 10's, 80-20 strings and they're pretty fantastic, lasted me for close to 2 months now, and only a slight sign of corrosion and dullness. Got em from maestro.

Hmm.

I used to like the boomers because they really brightened up my SG's sound... however I must say that those, including a few other GHS electric string variants kinda ate my frets for breakfast.

Curt Mangan pure nickel 9-42s ftw! They last longer than any D'Addarios and ernie ball that I've tried before. They do not rust and snap easily..

acoustic - elixir polyweb light's.
electric - DR tite wound (i dont know why, i'm just liking the feel)

little has to be said about elixirs to be honest. as for the DR's i dont know, they just feel right for me. shrugs.

D'addario nickel wound 10 - 52

bought a pack of 10 for $45.. thats $4.50 a pack... i restring once every 3 weeks so a pack of ten lasts me 7+ months... i find them consistent and i like the idea of their anti-corossion packs

again, consistency... the price is quite good for that

g

Using Everly B52s on my electric. It sounded great. used GHS boomer strings but it tend to rust easily. My bro used GHS progressives and it lasted long. it Haven`t rust since february. Hard but sounds good too.
