Your Favourite Strings

Hi guys, many newbies face this problem when doing their frist string change. Maybe we cld all help them by saying what strings we personally use and other things like pros and cons, gauge, and so on.

Wld u guys be so kind as to follow this example:
Elixir Strings Polyweb 0.09-0.42(Brand followed by type followed by gauge)

For me, i use DR Strings Tite-Fits 0.09-0.46 Light Top Heavy Bottom. I find these strings to be very versatile tonewise, i can cover almost all genres of music with these. The heavy bottom helps add oomph to my riffs and they are really bendable too. Best of all, combined with GHS Fast-Fret, they last extremely long(Longer than Elixirs IMHO). I practice on average 20 mins a day(Yes, very short i know but i'm a student with my 'O's nxt yr, wat do u expect?) I clean them after playing and they have lasted up to 6 mths, provided i dun break them first. Not a sign of rust on them until after 6 mths. That's wat u call long life.

GHS Eric Johnson Pure Nickel Rockers medium set (rollerwounds) 0.11 - 0.52
Electro Harmonix .11 - 48

Both for standard tuning.
the GHS strings are REALLY warm and smooth. love the feel of those things and really nice and thick on the bass strings.
the EHX strings are nice and bright and pretty slick. feels almost like ernie balls if i remember correctly, but lasts longer.
yeah they're tight, but i love thicker strings and the fuller, thicker tone they provide.

@loldude, 20 mins? i play for hours a day man. Os in about 5 months.

anyone know of any brands which have .12s without the wound 3rd string?(plain 3rd string)
i might wanna use those for Eb tuning...

suckasucks: Wah.............so lucky...........i dun have the time to spare man. And shorter playing time doesn't necessarily mean the strings last longer. I compared my playing time with my friend, who plays as much as u do, maybe more. Still the same life. I guess its got something to do with the fact that no matter how little u play, moisture eventually settles in. Yup but now exams over can play over 4 hours a day.........jus went for a 6 hours jamming marathon. Cheerz and keep the replies coming!

Trying out the Dean Markley nickelsteel. Recommened by Davis. Initially wanted to try ernie ball's super slinky. gauge 9-42. Pretty decent strings in my opinion. Been using for about a month already, no rust cos i take care of it. Sounds as good as new strings.

6 hours jamming?!?!?!?!!?!??!!?!?!?!? 8O [/b]

black diamond! cant rmb the gauge.. but stopped buying them coz its coloured..
lol.. did a pick slide once and the entire colur scraped off.. bummer! :?

i dont mind the brand.
i dont mind whether it's nickel or stainless steel.
so as long as the gauge is .0095, i'm cool..
.0090s doesnt sustain long enuff while .010s feel too tight for me.

Used to use Dean Markley's Nickelsteel strings (10s)...now on GHS Boomers (10s) and I honestly cannot hear the difference. Both are pretty cool though, won't blacken easily as long as you clean it after you play.

OMG DF! I used to use GHS boomers as well hahaha. They were quite good but it rusted pretty fast for me, guess i didnt really take care of them back then.

used to use GHS boomers, but rust too quickly, tone also not bright.

curt mangan is crap, sticky like cum even after fast fret.

D'addarios 10 - 46 is the real deal! now 3 per pack or 10 per pack so much cheaper and better than other pieces of shit.
