You don't have to be an emo to enjoy emo's music

Just kinda listening to bands like Emery, Silverstein, Story of the Year lately... Such music can be enjoyable. When I'm one who listens to metal almost everyday, and neing a huge fan of Emery is kind of a guilty pleasure for me.

Don't you hate the feeling that when you bump to a emo, they expect you to dress like them since you listen such bands? You can barely enjoy your music in public in such cases.

What are your thoughts on this? Ever experienced this?

uhmm..shouldn't you have gotten this great science already long before you even thought it deserved some thought? Because:

(1) You don't have to wear leather, spikes and everything yikes to enjoy Metal.

lol. i don't think anyone can be a perpetual emo kid in the first place. maybe that's why they got such bad reps as being poseurs. if i see an emo kid laughing, i would find it weird. but if i see them behaving like how they are expected to, i would try to run far away from them.

yup i agree...i listen everything from bands like emery to converge to metallica to blink 182 to cranberries and even alicia keys...u don have to be emo to listen to emo...u don have to be gay to listen to nsync and dat sort of thing...so cheers

heh, is the toughness in us, the hardness of metale music making us so hard to admit that we are emo as well. Just different level compared to fashion emoers. But still emo

I think it's quite stupid to label people as emo when people listen to bands like emery etc.
I mean like, every single one of us have emotions, so is the whole world emo?
Emo is just a term gone terribly wrong in the music scene these days.

Anyway, you dont have to fit into the genre to listen to them.
So widen your musical horizon!

yea i agree with you. i hate it when people expect me to listen to all those heavy stuff just beacause i'm wearing a slayer tee or something like that.

I did... I felt very provoked when that happens. But still, no point picking on them...
Truth is, music isn't music anymore or the way it used to be Fashion and Violence overwrote the meaning of music.

That's the problem with the emo fad. People are getting more f**ked up and think they are so cool, while in truth, they're the poseurs calling others poseurs. It's getting increasingly morbid. :/

If you ask me, I enjoy Mineral a lot. And if I can remember correctly, Mineral were one of the bands that kicked off emo rock. Ask any emokid if they ever heard of Mineral and the answer might just, well, be no.

You don't need to be somebody to appreciate music. There isn't any rule forbidding nerds and geeks from listening to metal. You don't need to have a classical face to listen to classical music. It's all just a farce.
