YM playing purple haze

In my humblest opinion,
YM, or G3 as a whole, sucks big time when it comes to doing Hendrix covers.
For proof, you only have to look as far as G3 covering 'Little Wing' :toimonster: , or even YM's version of 'Purple Haze'.

I'm highly conventional and conservative.
YM is a wanker, but Jimi is a demi-god! :prayer:

:)

i kind of like vai's version of little wing frm his london dvd concert

mi ranking of little wing played by famous peeps

1) SRV (you gotta admit he owns hendrix on this tonally and expressively)
2) Hendrix
3) Steve Vai

nah.. still can't beat Hendrix. although out of all the rest, SRV's has the most soul. but i still prefer the way Jimi does it. it's Jimi man!! 8)

I actually enjoyed YM's cover. Pretty nice hendrixy feel. I was expecting him to shred all over the song.

Jimi still rocks la...

Malmsteem he has a crappy tone, good for shredding but nt so good for other stuff................

Plus i find he overdos it, hendrix does it just right...........

as much as tone is subjective i do hope u avoid making comments like malmsteen has crappy tone and others of the same type. starting to tire of the kinda pple who dont like a certain thing but phrase it in such a way like theres no other side of the coin. remember if you dont like the tone, just saying its not to your taste is fine.

as young kids in the late 60s, masters like satch, vai n yngwie were inspired to play the electric guitar after watching Jimi. thats an experience!

theres also Frank Zappa's cover of this song, not to be missed

Wen Hendrix covered Hey JOe it made it his own... But YM didnt cover Purple Haze with much originality..... U listen 2 ori Hey Joe n compare 2 Jimi's n u'll noe wat i mean... Anyway Jimi is totally in a diff turf frm YM so hard 2 compare but i prefer JImi thou... Anyway i dunno y but lookin at YM im always reminded of Ritchie Blackmore...

hmm as much as what you tire is subjective as well. ah well.

who the hell tosses and throws his/her guitar until it breaks...and sets it on fire! i thought he was high on something tho....

and i see what you guys mean...listening to the song jimi actually played, it had so much soul compared to what this neo classical shredder did..it was entertaining but not that "entertained"

haiz in some way im dissapointed...since he was the one whom i first looked upon as an inspiration..

sia lah you dont want the strat throw it to me lah! i could make better use of it more than your $6000000000++++ stage antics...
