Yet another wierd midi controller - AudioCubes (NAMM 08)

Percussa introduced their AudioCubes midi controller this NAMM. Will work very well with Ableton Live or other loop based sequencers. Nice customisable lights. Will be quite popular amongst the DJs, maybe??

What will they think of next....

Actually this was already in research two years ago and was already out in last year's winter NAAM and was on sale. Much like the Reactable... it's interesting to see how Singapore catches up 2 years behind time. But better late than never! Yo!!! :)

Cannot! Rubik cube is patented and has copyright :). I thought the game was revived recently...

The cubes have sensors on each surface. The sensors appear to pick up signals from either another cube, or simply your hand. If using another cube, then obviously the combination of triggers will be more (Surface 1 of Cube A with Surface 1 of Cube B, Surface 1 of Cube A with Surface 2 of Cube B, Surface 2 of Cube A with Surface 2 of Cube B etc). Each position can be used to trigger either a midi signal which can be programmed into basically anything. You can switch tracks, trigger mod wheel, or whatever you program. I can see it being best versatile with loop based sequencing software like Ableton Live. And therefore the best application would be a DJ setting.
