I don't think it's the production... Other equally-famous companies can offer high-quality American-made guitars for far less than Gibson does. I think the cloud-surfers at Gibson just need to eat humble pie and re-think their guitars' pricing. But before a Gibson-lover bashes me, let me just say that I have indeed tried a Gibson Les Paul Standard. I thought it was great, but it didn't feel like it was worth even half the price it demanded. Felt like a thousand-dollar guitar...

im no gibson fanboy but im sure you havent tried one which blows you away.

Do you know why Gibson prices their guitars like that? Simply because people WILL PAY that price for their guitars. That's how big corporation work. Not all people are nice thoughful guys like Paul Cochrane who price his Timmys at 129USD when he could sell them for twice the price and STILL have buyers.

If you want Gibson to eat humble pie, start a rally or petition to boycott all Gibson products. Will that succeed? Not in our life time because the Gibson brand name is so strong due to its legendary status brought about by their famous players throughout history.

No offence but quit whining because no one on this earth sell's their products based on what you think it is worth. They price it based on what the general market is willing to pay. If people like you say wow your guitar isn't even worth half the price you guys demand, Gibson will tell you, sure sir, go ahead and buy cheaper China made products that are more "worth it", we don't need your money actually.

I don't want to sound harsh but I'm quite tired of your "Gibsons are not worth it" posts. Come on, so are SO MANY more material goods on earth. Why carry a Prada when a cheap pasar malam bag can do the job just fine?

Damn it, study some basic economics will you?

'Whining'? You think I'm whining? You must be really over-sensitive, dude. You speak as if I'm THE ONLY ONE dissing Gibson. And for the record, I'm not dissing Gibson. If I were really whining and dissing Gibson, I'd be saying they're a shit company with shit guitars and shit prices.

And do you think I'm bothered about Gibson changing their pricing to suit me? As far as I'm concerned, if I don't like the price, I simply do not buy. And at the same time, I offer my friends cheaper alternatives because I don't like to see them spend so much on something when you can get something cheaper that gets the job done just as well.

Don't bother scolding me. I have my opinions and I am certainly entitled to them. I'm not gonna bother arguing with you either.

Dear Henry,

Don't reinvent the wheel. Start with fixing and improving the wheel that you have problems making in the first place.

Yours sincerely,
A non-Gibson owner

P.S.
Smashing one of your brand's icons to prove a point is not going to help you with something people cannot even be bothered to give a damn about.

I never said you were dissing Gibson you're the over sensitive one for replying so defensively honestly. Like I said, I'm just quite frankly sick of your opinion that Gibson guitars are not worth it, because they pop up in literally every single Gibson discussion.

Yup, people who don't like the price don't buy them. But people who Gibson guitars will pay that 3 grand or more for that guitar. It's worth it to them, thats why their money comes out of their pockets. You just said:

I think the cloud-surfers at Gibson just need to eat humble pie and re-think their guitars' pricing.

I'm telling you from my reply why Gibson will never consider eating humble pie and re thinking their pricing. Just put your shoes in the CEO's perspective. You sell guitars that make a HUGE profit from its original cost price, sales are through the roof, going better than ever, your company earns incredible amounts of profit. Does that say something? Should we lower our prices? I might sound mean again, but does your or all others who dislike their pricing opinion matter again? If a huge bunch of people, including you feel that they are not worth what they sell for buy other guitars, it doesn't really matter does it?

Again, why so defensive?!?! I was just merely trying to explain why Gibson prices their guitars the way they do, because honestly, I DO feel you are whining because of your many, many posts in various threads about Gibson not being "worth it".

Aiya very easy what. You like then buy la dont like dont buy la. Simple as that. Same idea for every aspect.

1) you like the price you buy
2) you like the shape you buy
3) you like the colour you buy
4) you like the tone it gives you buy
5) you got money you buy
6) if all of the above ( or more that i have obviously left out ) do not fit your criteria in any manner. Dont buy la. Sua?

if you had the cash you wouldnt be dissatisfied with gibson's pricing :o

i guess those who throw thousands of dollars ard like loose change wouldnt mind paying top whack for a gibson, but those not who only throw ard a few cents as loose change cant really afford to. not a gibson fan myself even though i've never tried one, but just aint sure where gibson is going with their robot series of wood art

Agreed, the direction they are heading is kinda stupid, but their old favourites remain legendary.
