During this period, most music shops have their Year End Sale going on. Is there any really good bargins out there that we should look out for? Share your findings here!

If my wife hadn't dragged the whole family to Europe and blew a few $k on handbags, I would have bought (from morpheus) 5xNord Rack 2X & 1xNord Lead 3 as the master keyboard, lock myself in 1 for a week and pretend I'm Vincent Clarke of Erasure.

But she did, so I'm not going to do it

Did I say that the Nord synths are really good for 80's sounds? Better than the Virus which is so "trance".

Oh well, there's always next year and I'm not going further than Gentings in 2005.

I bought 2 Triton Extreme's at a great price from City Music. Also I bought some good stuff from Yamaha..

However, City music customer service has been great..and they door delivered the item..with lots'a freebies.. :D

Cut and paste from City Music flyer

Triton Extreme 61 is $2945 (usual price is $3680). Free keyboard stand, damper pedal and soft bag.

Buy 2 got further discount?

hi Joel,

You mentioned the MOTIF ES6 is less than $3K
at Music Plaza but when I check it out it's close to $4K ?!

errr.. ...willing to share your bargain skills ?

Anyway MUSIC PLAZA is running some seminars this 2 weeks,
worth going is the mLAN and 01x networking for computer music.

rdgs,
John

Yup..James..But I dont want to mention the figure as it is a mutual understanding between both parties..Also I have been a City music customer for more than 10 years.. :D Loyalty pays !

Swee Lee !!! Sale !! Never will get discount price....
Staff also not so friendly like Luthers or Citymusic...

The staff at sims avenue swee lee has always been really friendly to me. Even though i'm 15 and always try but never buy they still let me try out more gear. Today i went there and tried three high end guitars and it was all good. :)

sims ave and bras brasah

is there a double standard in customer serivce with the two SWEE LEE branches?
only gone to the one at Bras Brasah, the staff seems eager to serve.
i was only asking for a 2-tier synth stand, the staff gave good service.

MUSIC PLAZA is the worst, they know their product sells by themselves,
the staff bo-chap - dun care attitude. when you say you want to buy, they start
smiling; after you pay and ask about other accessories, they keep quiet - pls go sim lim, pls go there, here and all the shops ? WHAT IS TIS ??? *sigh*

when i call the service centre to enquire on servicing,
the woman who answer the phone can yell ?! WAT IS TIS ???
I WROTE A BLOODY EMAIL TO THE GM and COMPLAIN !!!
The GM no choice has to bow down ???!!! WAT IS TIS ???
*sigh*

Swee lee is a weird place. Even their second hand/obsolete gear stored at the end of the bbc shop are overpriced. Like a bx80 stereomixer, if i remember correctly at 400+, with some knobs missing.

Was very tempted with the citymusic sale of the microkontrol, but the micro keys really suck worse than the microkorg, though better than the ms20 legacy collection controller. Their amp sims, toneworks i think, were quite attractive pricewise as well.

Didn't have much impression of the music plaza sale. Must've been really bad. I did email them last year when looking for a 3 tier stand and they were quite prompt with their reply, so maybe it's just one or two of them fooling around. Though one day it looked like the entire shop was having an impromptu jam session.

lowjk, i'd puke out blood if i was ever forced to choose between handbags and gear.

Hi Veganbleu, any idea how much the microkontrol is? E-mail them but no response. Should be packaged with a special edition of Ableton Live, Sampletank and some korg software effects.

As for the handbags, it's ok. She also bought some "nice adult leather wear" for herself to satisfy me and also let me buy a Novation KS Rack for myself.

Wonder why is it so difficult to find "adult" leather wear in Singapore?

FINE country

I asked them a number of years ago about an old E-mu sampler they were selling - it was an extinct outdated model which I cannot recall now and they were selling at the original price when it first hit the market. I got into a long friendly discussion with them about their marketing. They told me that they cannot sell the unit at a price lower than that when they first got it or they will "lose money". I tried to tell them that keeping a unit in their store and not selling it is losing even more since the longer they keep it, the less likely somebody will get it. They don't get it; neither do I...
