Yamaha Appreciation Thread

Hello all,

It seems that there are appreciation threads for guitars such as ibanez and schecter etc so I thought that it was time we yamaha guitar people show them what we got!

Yamaha guitar on the whole are very value for money but often underrated. Maybe because some people associate yamaha to piano stuff so its a little 'geeky' to them. But let me assure you that yamaha guitars are actually awesome guitars!

So let me get started, I own a yamaha pacifica 412v and I have to say that it is an awesome guitar. From the wood used to the finish it is almost perfect. I changed the pickups and now it sounds even better! Its sounds twangy when you want it to and can really emit this lush sound for jazz stuff. I also own a RGX-A2 which is hands down the best I have ever played. Screams, howls, chugs, speed, plus it is really comfortable and light. The shape of the guitar is ergonomic, great feel. I am looking forward to get the SA2200 jazz guitar, till then.

Overall yamaha guitars are great for beginners (some pac012 and 112 sounds too good to be true, just upgrade the pups and you are on your way) as well as professionals alike (think acoustic handcrafted series) at a very reasonable and affordable price. I would not hesitate to recommend you to get one.

For all those who own a yamaha, show us what you got!

PS Please, No piano stuff.

+1 Yamaha

Yamaha is usually deemed "uncool" especially among the younger crowd. It's a mindset thing. IMO, the Pacifica 112V is the best entry level guitar.

And the Yamaha SG2000 will eat any Les Paul alive!

Woohoo.

I shall be the first to post my yamaha here! Introducing my natural finish pacifica 112 (:

LOL. nice yamaha there. maybe i'd post up my acoustic.

btw, whats IS up with the roland micro cube?
ahahaha!

can it eat a gibby les paul alive?haha

Actually, at this junture we need to reconsider the nature of both guits...(to give example) I have an AES1500 and have a Gib Les Paul BFG....I should say the Gib is more suitable for Rock however, the AES is more suitable for Jazz...there is a verymuch difference in the character of each individual guits...there are a lot of contributing factors to this differences...mainly the pick ups are different ... body being the AES is a hollow body and the BFG is a Chambered Body...

I hope to clear a little of the misunderstanding...

I admit I am a greater fan of Gibson....

HAhahaha

I own a Yamaha 112(my first and only guitar) too and it's seriously a good guitar in my opinion.

But you'll have to change the stock pick-ups. I did it recently and got a SH-4 JB. I had never looked back then. It's seriously awesome.

I don't have a picture of my guitar though. Maybe I will take one later and put it up. :D

Yamaha is too underrated. But we shall prove their mettle!

I am a bass player and I got to say nothing feels as good as a yamaha bass!

I love the RBX series since they got lower action for slapping.

Tone for yamaha basses are awesome. Another thing to note is that yamaha shops usually maintain their guitars better than other music stores though their staffs are not one of the most friendly around.

+1 to yamaha products

Oh yes it can. This is the high end SG2000 (not AES series) we are talking about, a classic in its own right since late 70's. It's not sold in our local Yamaha outlets, and is priced about the same as a Gibson LP Std. It's Yamaha's take on the LP tone, and it can sustain longer than most LPs out there. By the way, it was Santana's guitar of choice before he moved on to PRS.

The first Yamaha acoustic on this thread. It's an old F-310. Probably the lowest-priced full-sized Yamaha acoustic (steel-string) of its time, and very simple (no fanciful stuff) but it is a very, very sweet guitar. I love Yamaha and they're seriously underrated. I might get a Pacifica soon, too.

I have a Pacifica 112J and F310 Acoustic been with me for quite some time already. Reasonably priced and does the job well! :)

Hi All,

I have yamaha pacifica 112M...got it from softies. When i got it the humbucker has already been changed (to voodoo 60'). The look is pretty bad, it's painted black but very badly done, sticker all over the surface, the output jack and the joint between the neck and body has also been changed/modified.

At home, i sand off the surface to remove the paint and give a few coat of clear matt lacquer, then bring to guitar shop to re-solder the pups and the result is amazing...i love the neck position sound the most and the humbucker really makes it complete. Now i play this yamaha more than my other guitar.
And recently, i changed the tuning head to sperzel locking and the bridge to wilkinson VS50 IIK.

Cheers

Has its horn cut short, painted matt black and mirror pickguard installed.
Equipped with Tesla Plasma 2

The nearest best thing to Muse Matt Bellamy's mattocaster.

BTW, Matt uses a Pacifica 120 in Muse early days
