Work in Music Shop

I've been wondering, what do you need if you want to work in.. lets say swee lee, yamaha shops, or just normal music shops.
Do you need like a cert in eg playing guitar, piano and so on.
What are the perks?
Any one here had a job like that? Good/Bad?

I don't suppose you need any certificates to be a salesperson, or a general helper in the store.
But you'd definitely need to have the knowledge about your wares, and of course, interest.

besides playing the guitars, i saw some of the staffs playing brass and wind instruments. Maybe it could be an added advantage.

i think ther's a person assigned to every department (guitars,basses,pianos n keys,drums,etc)...so u HAV to kno ur stuff..n prolly also know how to set the settings on amps...

I dont know much stuff, do know a basic here and there, but not pro yet.
I do have the will to learn, since i want to get info.

dont hav to be a pro to work at music shops..but i think it'll be a shame if u dunno how to tweak the settings of an amp wen a customer wants to try it out...

actually it all depends on what the shop wants in that staff.

it is not surprising that they do not need someone to know anything musically.

i used to work in Maestro. Its quite fun when people who shares the same interest comes in and then we start talking.

Ok, i do know how to tweak the amp, gee, guess i should go ask around yah.

Btw where else can i get guitar parts? Other than guitar connection? I want a strat body and neck, Medium Jumbo Frets, Alder Body, Maple Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard.
