but the problem is i wanna use internet access from my notebook in the comfort of my air conditioned room instead of being in my hot and stuffy living room wif my PC...
get the cable , plug it directly into ur modem / router and trail the cable into ur room and plug it into your laptop ... it maybe a real pain in the ass ... but its legal and worry-free
ok i'm thinking of doing something stupid here....
i'm thinking of bringing my laptop to southeast CDC and there are 3 LAN cables connected to the 3 separate PCs there.suppose if i take 1 LAN cable and plug it into my laptop and play some online gaming.the router is in a special room called the server room.there's no way that they can find out in the server room instance , if someone is "abusing" their LAN ports for gaming purposes , there's not gonna be like a huge alarm going off in the server room telling everyone that someone is playing online games right????
unless of course they catch me red handed making use of their LAN ports to play online games...

An alternative to UTP cables or wireless is using a Powerline solution.
Get a pair of powerline adapters for about $150. Connect one to your existing router (doesn't matter if wireless or not). Connect the other one to the power socket of your air-con room near your desktop computer.
The setup will use your home electrical network as a LAN connection.
