Wilkinson Trems

Hi there, was thinking of assembling my own strat and I was thinking of the different kinds of trems i could use.

I was recommended by my friend to get Wilkinsons and I went to SV's website and saw these 2 trems. I don't want to skim on quality and technically, the higher the price the better no?

So just wanna ask whats the diff between these 2 and are there any other trems, 6 point and 2 point both and which would be smoother?

I like the idea that both have bounded saddles, this can give you more sustain, currently Ibanez also employs the same design in their Tight-End fixed bridges -- their replacement to the old Gotoh-type fixed bridges..

The WVP6SB might really have a different fulcrum action, it has the "5+1" knife-edge, same as higher end Wilkinson Gotoh VSVG..

Lemme put it this way
American Standards have 2pt trems.
Mexicans have 6 screw trems.
So you decide for yourself.
If i were you, i'd either put a stoptail or Floyd-no point having it in the centre.
I don't use trems/bigsby much so definitely stoptail is for me. But ymmv.

PRS's use 6 screw trems and theirs is the best in the business so people say

That may be true, but the trems itself are different. (from pictures i see...i could be wrong).
You cannot compare a Gibson LP to a Fender Strat.
So if you are able to land your hands on a PRS 6 screw, then by all means.
I'm not very well versed in trems, heheh. As mentioned, i prefer stoptails and TOMs. Convenient since i don't whammy.

How in the world can you compare a Gibson LP and a Fender Strat.... to 2 semi different 6 screw trems? .

It's like comparing 2 pizza's with 2... Fisherman. Totally out of the picture.

i would take the the 2 point because it looks so much simpler!

the 2-point will not fit into a 6-screw cavity in the 1st place. so if urs is a 6-screw, its gonna be either another 6-screw or a 5+1. in all honesty, the bridge is usually not the one at fault when the strings go out of tune. most of the time is the nut or the tuners...well at least for my strat that is =/
