Why should we promote local music?

I think local bands to promote their music is through the web because it's obvious that the local media doesn't really care about local music.

I am talking about proper band websites with and mp3s of their songs. And also signing up with free streaming music services (Last.fm/Pandora) would be great as well. I for one have discovered a lot of new bands through both Pandora and Last.fm.

The Artic Monkeys did it, so it is possible. Not easy, but possible.

Not sure if your project is over. Of course we should support our local musicians. But the musicians should also learn to garner support from the public. Never think too highly of yourselves. Must be humble, eager to learn and also must know how to market themselves. I think Electrico is pretty cool in marketing the group - whether to the media or the public. Only then you appeal to the public.
