Anyone? I know ppl will probably associate them more as a 80s love ballad band, but back in the 60s, they were really sumthing...a rock band with a horn section..their guitarist, Terry Kath, was a creative musician and Jimi Hendrix became one of his fans..: P

Just bought their greatest hits cd..enjoy listening to them over n over again..: )

i think you got it wrong, terry kath was a fan of hendrix. In their first album, kath had recorded an instrumental which somewhat a tribute to hendrix, which was total feedback on his strat.

It says in the booklet..."While Kath was an innovative and exciting guitarist (Jimi Hendrix later became one of his biggest fans)"

I read sumwhere in a Terry Kath tribute section in Guitar World magazine many years ago tat when Hendrix saw Kath play, Hendrix replied, "That guitarist is better than me!"

actually they had great admiration for each other. my mistake in my previous post.

quote, 'Terry penned and recorded a tribute to his friend Jimi Hendrix "Oh Thank You Great Spirit"
It can be heard on Chicago VIII album, (CD) track 7. In the latter half of this number the love for his friend really rocks and shines through Terry's amazing guitar solo.'

cheers.

I bought it from Sembawang Music Centre..basically, u can get it in most music stores...I love the song 25 or 6 to 4..the descending chord change plus the horn riffs n Cetera`s high pitch voice..: P

yeah peter cetera's vocals are on the high side. i'll check out the stores sooon to get my CDs :D thanks dude!

yea, 25 or 6 to 4, really solid song, with the riffs and the solos. i actually did my own version of it, but with just the riffs. lol.

peter cetera is their bassist right? he's one of my inspirations. but in the video for if you leave me now (1976) shows him using a 12-stringer. :?
