Who Do You Think Is The Best Drummer?

best drummer of all

Ian Paice is the best living drummer now! Why do ppl not understand after having listened to him? He is technically accomplished, has great feel, and has excellent flair in his playing. Some drummers may be better in some specific areas but not any that I know is capable in every aspects like him.

The joke is when I heard someone say Yoshiki for X-Japan is the greatest drummer ... what a joke!

I like many drummers which most of you guys mentioned.
But my favourite 3 will be:

Mike Portnoy (DT, LTE)
Carter Beauford (DM Band)
Aquiles Priester (Angra)

;)

Just because of a concert where he double pedal for 20 mins?

if u ask me there can never be one "best drummer" kinda title there are to many good drummers out there.. the title should be like the most well liked or popular drummer around.. there are so many great talents out there rock legends like Ian Placid, funk legends, jazz legends like Ed Thigpen, Peter Erinskin etc.. even our own local heros like Tama Goh(J.M jazz band, he has a endorsement by zildjian!), MYX studio's Jerry, Tony Zee(The Thrailers, i think!), Wee Guan(The Quest).. and even drummers on this fourm that yet to be notice or spotted.. WTH who knows maybe years from now maybe a few of us will make it big too! it will be effing hard but who knows? haha but can ask any or at lest most drummers it all started with a dream something we all prob have! wahaha

anyone heard of mastadon??? the drummer is like woah...playin technical s**t all the way in the album...brian dailor is his name i think...drummers will go crazy

Peter Erskine, a drummer who played with a lot of 'feel'. he was once part of jazz-rock-fusion group Weather Report. the bassist for Weather Report is none other than the Great Jaco Pastorius. 8)

hmm my personal favourites are....
Mike portnoy,terry bozzio,gene hoglan,virgil donati

but ya the mahavishnu orchestra guy rocks....billy cobham is it??

yoshiki hayashi from x-japan!! he has been given the title "No. 1 drummer in japan"... check out his ~15mins of drum solo in "the last live"... its awesome!!
and next.. i'll say shinya from dir en grey... he's just awesome... thou he's real damn skinny...

that drum solo live was impressive but it quite boring seeing him double pedal all the for 15 minutes, if u saw his drum solo in 1992 on the verge of destruction a.k.a silent jealousy tour .. u will be like.. OH MY GOSH!

Virgil Doniti - Clinician
Mike Portnoy - Dream Theatre
Lars Ulrich - Metallica
Joey Jordison - Slipknot

love these drummers.

Technical stuff - Mike Portnoy / Terry Bozio / Neil Peart
Funk - Chad Smith
