why would you need another overdrive to play heavy metal with the GT-2? The GT-2 by itself is already..\m/ to get the heavy metal sound imo. put the settings to mic (off axis), mod (hot-wired), amp (california), the level at about 11, high and low to 3 oclock and drive all the way to 5 oclock. this setttings are gd enuff for me.

I haven't used a GT2, but the OCD is nice for a crunchy Marshall tone if you use the HP mode - I guess if you stack it, you can get into Maiden territory nicely. If you crank up the gain on the OCD past 3 o clock, it starts to sound a bit harsh though.

hey man...did u plug direct or effects loop???
in regards to setting it depends...the od will help to fatten up but ..hopefully not overly gain or u will get very muddy..
for me i prefer amt DT2 ..better than GT2...but i heard older gt2 are better..
.. 8O

direct. im planning 2 get a randall rx30D wif the effects loop for it. plugging in effect loop will giv more gain meh???

Unlikely.

I was horrible initially with heavy metal techniques, and I tried the 'adding more gain' route. Didn't really work out too well.
But after spending some time with some better players I realised that heavy chugging has more to do with your technique, than the amount of gain.
Granted, gain is essential to get heavy metal tones. But it's more of the ferocity of your playing, techniques encompassed.

Not that I am much better now, but that's just my 2 cents worth.

hey, i dun have the dt2 ..a fren does, i just find that AMT pedals are bang for the buck and not bad ..im using the fatal tube for classic rock like dio etc...

i prefer plugging thru the effects loop so that i dun need to adjust the main eq on the amp.. and i feel that the tone is more "open" not compress that way.
i dun use lots of gain for metal kinda music, normally not more than 12 oclock.I do hav the GT2 with me but i would prefer the amt DT2..
