Hey guys,
I had just emailed Swee Lee to enquire about hollow guitars. And I had came down to these three guitars namely Epiphone ES-175, Ibanez AF75D-TDR, Ibanez AG95-TRD. However I am not sure whether they are semi-hollow or not. Can someone help me out and confirm whether they are semi or full hollow? And also can flyod rose or tremolo bridge be attached to these guitars? Thank you.

why would u want to install a flyod rose system in a semi-hollow?both the ibanez models u stated comes with a "bigsby" kinda trem already

a quick search on google seem that all 3 are actually full hollow body

for test, just knock on the geetar area round the center of the body(between 2 pickup)

for semi hollow, there will be a center block(wood), knocking on the body round the pickup area, you will hear a solid "thud" sound.

With the full hollow, the sound is empty/hollow, coz dont have that center block of wood

so far, for floyd rose equipped semi hollow 335 style geetar i have seen, is a japanese artist signature model from ESP. More common wud be the bigsby style trem.

heh, floyd rose with hollow/semis geetarseem scary, the extreme floyd action might see the whole thing ripped out from the body, due to the thin surface of the geetar body and the way floyd style trem is fix on the geetar

haha! omg that would be so hilarious! it would be like "oh my god, i just ripped my guitar apart!" HAHA. ok so i'm now clear about the suitability of floyd rose with semi-hollows. One more question though, can a semi-hollow which at default has no tremolo bridge be modified so that i can use a tremolo on it?

Semi-hollow with floyd rose? Yamaha Wes Borland signature. It's at Plaza S'pura, but wonder if it's stlll there. It will set you back $3K though.

OMG LOL? haha..niwae has anybody spotted Epiphone's DOT or maybe Ibanez AGS, AM, AS or AJD series guitars anywhere? I'm rather disappointed Swee Lee doesn't have much of semi-hollow bodies.

yar, mi thoughts too, was shopping for a mid priced semi-hollow a few weeks back, veri poor selection, not just at swee lee, but all over

yea its a nice one..btw can a tremolo bridge be attached to a semi hollow which has no tremolo by default? gosh sry but i have this fetish for things i can yank to change the sound of the guitar..heh

its hard to say in general whether can the floyd be retrofitted onto a semi hollow. We have to look at the model of the semi hollow guitar which you are interested in. And if its possible to put a floyd rose on the semi hollow, its going to be another several hundred dollars to do the re routing.

Re routing of a solid body geetar to put in a floating trem is not a cheap mod. For semi hollow, it should be much more expensive. If really wanna know, just look around the forum to see if theres anyone who can do that, pm/email them to check the price.

Imho

1) Either look for some semi hollow geetars in the market that already have those floating trem on it. I googled for ibanez artcore and theres a pic of a semi hollow geetar from them with a floating trem on it. Not sure whats the model. If you want to know, just google for it

2) Settle on bigsby style tremolo unit. Cant do dive bomb, only mild vibrato.

heh, theres no better choice, both cant replace one another but able to compliment each other when its available together and at the same time, either one can exist on its own without needing the other as well..

imho and without taking into consideration of the preference from guitarers, in general
