which mp3 player suits metal music?

mp3 players with knobs are better than the ones that control volume/eq/stuff with touchpad because everyone knows

ANALOG>DIGITAL

ahahaha.. i was thinking of typing the same thing neuro182 posted, but he type already.

mp3 wise, you just have to make sure it's output quality is good. other than that, its all in the earpiece or headphone.
if i got money rite, i'll buy a 'branded' mp3 player. maybe 1gig is enough. then get one of those wireless headphones. no wires attached. aint that cool. :D

if your that picky in the first place, mp3 arent yr stuff at all. mp3 players like creative, ipod is inferior compared to other mp3 players mainly iriver and so on. yeah both mp3 file itself, mp3 player and earphone affect sound quality. Of all i believe earphone affect the most. Again if you that picky, your better off getting a cd player than a mp3 player.

I think as long as the song quality is good, nothing else matters. If u get an Iriver or something, and u have these crappy "fuzzy-sounding" songs, u won't be one happy listener.

A mp3 player just reproduces whatever's on the mp3. If you encode your mp3's using too low a bitrate you'll lose quite a lot of the lows and highs.

This is key... a 128kbps encoded MP3 file, sounds very different from a .wav file...

Base tone people, its the base tone!

Anything above 196 kbps is a good bet, you probably can't really hear much difference from CD quality at this point. Sacrifice a bit of space if you cannot tahan 128.

Your mp3 should have a decent SNR of at least 90 plus dBs. Even if you encode a high bitrate file and playback, it will still sound crap if SNR is low.

All in all, there is no single factor for the sound quality. Its hard to justify what is more important than the other cos all of them are contributing factors. Just get a decent mp3 player, good head/earphones and encode at 196. Metal, blues, pop, dance, nursery rhymes, hi-5, barney, all can. 8)

since we are at this, do u guys use headphones or earphones (is that wat the 2 different ones are called)? cuz like seldom see ppl wearing a headphone out.. like dj-ing or something.. abit exaggerating..?

I'd say go for Nano! Video is cool, but it's big and bulky but unless you don't mind miles of eyes looking at your gadget and having the battery drain up so damn fast, then go for the Video.

*I wear headphones...not those DJ humongous type but the size of the ear...or maybe a little smaller...*

My mp3 that has died is an Ipod mini.. and I believe Ipod has got battery problems.. and to replace the battery alone cost more than $200.. madness.. Any brands other than Ipod?

Yes, iPod definitely has battery issues...at least for mine...about 5 hours of hearing and my battery's in the red zone already...talk about 14 hours of playback? Pffft...I think Samsung players are not too bad...haven't used 1 myself though...

yead ipod batteries are insane :( Hard to maintain also, get scratches like no one's business. To remove scratches on the screen it costs about $30.. insane. (part 2)...
