i think the Epi les paul is just great. in every way possible.
Just pick up any les paul standard from sweelee and try it.
Obviously you cant be like expecting a Seymour duncan in there but sound wise, its got the chunky les paul sound, nice enuf warm enuf.
and its playability is also not bad, feels great if you're a les paul guy, cos some people just like to play on Ibanez necks, fender necks or jackson necks, but if you love to play the les paul, it wont feel any different to you
Aesthetics wise, they simply look great, and its like whatever gibson has, be it the goldtop, the classic, or the flamemaple, epi has a version, or a colour. Just that you wont get the same grade of endangered wood from brazil, or get the one-piece neck-tru contruction, or the real abalone mother of pearl inlays, or that nitro cellulose finish.
Cos epis, are just made a 3 piece neck contruction, normal laquer, plastic inlays and stock pick-ups from Korea/China. But it still sounds like les paul the way it should. It shouldnt be too far off from how a Gibby plugged into a Marshall stack should sound, because the signal chain is only dependant on the weakeast link of the chain.
But if you compare it with burny or suzuki or craftsmen or whatever, do they give you anything different? same what also lespaul copy what.
When the day comes when you need to sell the guitar away, the resale value only sticks to the Epis or the Burnys
Play in bedroom or jamming studio only what. End of the day even if you got the Gibson Les Paul Custom supreme, would you have the Marshall Plexi to go with it ? Even if you have all the gear also doesnt mean you can make sweet music.
So impt thing is this.
Buying Price, Reselling price.
How damn bloody beautiful the guitar is to you and you only, cos its your baby.
and how playable it is to you.
the rest doesnt really matter that much.
