hey guys recently i have a friend who is gonna play christian rock and he's trying to get a guitar to suit that kind of genre. But he doesn't know which guitar will suit christian rock eg.planet shakers. So any recommendations on which guitar he should get?

there isn't a specific guitar for a specific genre per se. the answer lies in trying as many guitars as possible & choosing the one which serves the music well, regardless of the brand name.

from what i know, planet shakers use mostly electric guitars for their christian rock type of music right? i propose just trying out different guitars and then buying the one which he's most comfortable with. no need to have a specific brand.

you need an BC Rich with bruuuutal bodyart for that kind of music. And your guitar needs to have as many sharp ends as possible.

get a les paul...y?

quote from slash from his interview from ultimate-guitar:

"As far as I’m concerned they’re (Fender Strat)the best sounding guitars but they’re really inconsistent and I don’t have the patience to mess with them. That’s the reason why I don’t use them really because Les Pauls are just way too reliable."

hahaha...jus kidding la...i think most of the guitar all able to play rock music...be it christian rock or hard rock...so ask ur frend to find a guitar tt he like and is comfortable playing with...

PS: for those who wanna read the interview on slash

Nice on Vaiyen  Or get a Gibson Les Paul, specifically the custom shop one with the playboy graphics.

Hahah.. yeah i know which playboy LP you talking abt... saw it in the sweelee outlet that used to be in Takashimaya a long time ago when i was still a kid

I don't think the looks of guitars will specify the genre, eh? I think the main thing crozzfire's friend should look out is the tone...

Any guitar with a humbucker in the bridge position will get you there easily.

For instance the Squier fat strat in the classifieds.

Strat will pretty much get you there. But look for something with at least medium output humbucker. Try to stay away from the floyd rose if he's not playing lead.

If it was up to me, I'd get an SG. :smt003

Lol, I get the joke, but my answer's directed to the first question...not the rest of the post...=P

oh so strat is probably the most welcomed guitar for christian rock eg.planetshakers?or izzit telecaster or SG or LP?

Any of the reccomendations will work.

Fat strat at the top.
Then SG
Then LP
And lastly Tele

IMO.

This is a pointless discussion, really...

Crozzfire, just refer to all the previous discussions on guitars and you'll be able to get a good guitar for church use.

There's no Christian guitar or tone per se.. just get a good axe that will handle the needs for your friend.

Like good cleans? Warm distortion? Good sustain? I don't know.

hmm heard sg's have pretty bad sustain.
is that true. mine has pretty bad sustain
but went for a setup and it became a lil better haha.

for me, a strat would be best for christian music. if ur into those planetshakers/united live kind of music, u should get a fat strat.
