HEY people! Just wanna hear your views on what bands you guys like!

which bands do you think is the most technically well-rounded and versatile in their genre?

(what bands would you consider as the 'top' of the spectrum in terms of showing the flowery technical stuff - maybe like setting the highest STANDARD or sth)

c'mon lets hear your crazy votes, and list them out.

I've never considered being "technical" as a criteria for judging a band..
If they're tight, they're tight.. It doesn't matter if your guitarist plays a 1000 notes a second.. Lol.. If it sounds like shit, or if his guitar was out of tune and made it sound like crap, then he technically sucks..

Lol.. I really like RATM's heavy yet extremely simple riffs, with powerful vocals that inspire..
Or Muse and Incubus in making noise+weird sounds into great music, always innovating and breaking the traditional boundaries of music..

Agree with Godspeed64. Something similar is that people tend to consider how great a musician is if he plays all those technical stuff, but there may be others who are even better who decide that good music does not necessarily need to be technical, so they don't show off that much.

But if you mean the most technical band that makes great music, my vote would go to Symphony X. Dream Theater is a good band but in my opinion their over-technicality ruins some of their songs.

Anaal Nathrakh is quite technical for a black/industrial metal band, and their music is superb. For non-metal, I'd vote Muse.

HAHA, what i actually meant is: what bands are best with the technical stuff?

as in, an allrounded band with like good guitarist, good bassist, etc.

(of course im not making a comparison like a jazz drummer to a metal drummer cause they have their own fields)
