Try not to DIY. Gives you a connection problem nightmare. Also not as cheap as you think.
I can get cheapo cables and connectors of decent quality ready made ones, cost about half than if I make myself buying similar quality stuffs. Of course you must know how to judge if the quality is acceptable.
Soldering and know how is also important, I being playing electronics & soldering for about 20yrs now, so I'm confident with the stuff I make.
I see plenty of Sound company who DIY or no choice have to custom make their own connections. End up korking up the sound outcome and worst blow equipments and amps and speakers. Better off using cheapo ready mades.
Some just want to save a few dollars, but end up with hefty repair and replacement costs. Like we say Penny Wise, Pound Foolish.
