I don't know if they have Explorers, but there's a brand 'Santa Fe' that makes cheap copies of well-known designs. You can find them at Dans Music at Peninsula, but I can't comment because I haven't tried one before.

just a word of caution... those santa fe guitars are not that good.. as in the built/quality...
my friend bought it and we found out theres cracks on the fretboard and dents here and there..
not sure whether its the manufacturer fault or the shop fault...

i saw an explorer at city music.. cost arnd $500 and if im not wrong, ranking also sells explorer for about 200 to 300..

well, hope that's help.. :)

i have the santa fe explorer. can say its not the best copy.

action is high, some frets are coming out of the fretboard, the fretboard has cracks and all. i like the pickups though, it cleans up pretty well when you turn the volume knob to 1 or so. but i dont like the 'round' sound of it when its at 1.

i went to refret it and it now feels great with very low action. but idk if you want to do that, cos it costs like 300 bucks for a refret.

I saw a Santa Fe flying v in cash converters once... Wanted to buy it as a project, until I took a closer look. I swear the body looked like it was made of MDF.

i bought the explorer from city music man..
it was a hamer XT standard..
cost me $400...
the best decision i ever made in my life...
the action was freakin AWESOME!

Action is not the only thing that matters. I have a pal who has a Gibson that has relatively high action, and uses .13 strings. Tough to hold but that's the way he likes it. likewise, the primary concern would be the comfortability of the neck, and of course whether the body shape suits you. You can always send it for a setup to lower the action, or you can do it yourself. I believe they have instruction manuals on the internet.
