I may be wrong but as far as I know, only Davis carries EMG Pickups. Or rather at least Davis is the only authorised dealers in Singapore for EMGs. I recommend the EMG 81 & i'm lazy to write so I'll just copy and paste its descriptions.
"The EMG-81 is a high output pickup designed especially for the lead guitarist. The 81 is at its best for high volume overdrive and amps with a master volume. Whether you're playing power rock and roll, or overdriving your amp, there's a razor sharp attack, and incredible sustain for brilliant soloing."
Allternatively, popular combinations are EMG 81 with EMG 85, like Kerry King or Zakk Wylde. The 85 is well to maintain a beefy lowend and a fatter top end. Because of a more natural tone, it works great as a rhythm and blues pickup because it has loads of output but isn't muddy.
2 EMG 81's costs around $270+/-, 81.85 combo's however, are cheaper by $10 - $20. However, as Klazick says, a good amp plays a definitive role. Having EMG's or DiMarzio® D Activator™ aren't gonna make any difference if you using a thrashy 10 watt amp. So don't forget to invest on a good amp too.
