what's with musicman basses?

the BIG deal about musicman basses-

the musicman line was conceived by leo fender after CBS bought out fender about 40 years back.
the first prototype musicman had a reverse Precision pick up mounted at the bridge position.
exploring this possibility, louis johnson (the groundbreaking bassist from the brothers johnson) 'helped' leo fender refine the pick up design, construction and position that is familiar on all musicmans today.
early MM designs have the 3 bolt neck joint and a large bridge with adjustable dampers and a 2 eq preamp. along with the stingray, leo also produced another model called the SABRE, this was exactly like a stingray BUT with 2 pickups and an on board coil and phase switching ability. sabres are NOT produced anymore but there are a few singaporean basists who own one and play one.
ernie ball bought the MM franchise and took it further with improved electronics, a 4 bolt neck joint but nowadays its a 5 or 6 bolt for better stability. the woods used are of better quality (2 piece bodies or one piece). 1/4sawn necks and the models include th workhorse, stingray 5, the sterling and the acclaimed BMW engineering team (yes that german car maker) designed BONGO series.
presently there are are the new MMs with double humbucking pickups with coil and phase switching features and limited edition colours with exquisite gold hardware. the 'stealth' (all black sries) on all models are highly sought after.
no bass player can go wrong with a music man bass, it delivers what it was designed and built for.
if anyone has watched 'rockstar supernova', the house bassplaer, sasha krvitstov plays one week in week out.

YEP, our Stewie has just BOUGHT another Musicman bass........ thats no 39 for this year?

.

imho, the sabre no sound like stingray. not as ballsy when the bridge pup is isolated. but its a full humbucker j-bass sound when both pups are on, just like the g&l l2000. i also found no practical use for the phase switch....

its really a cross between a stingray and a g&l l2000 bass.

know how much these musicman basses would cost? namely-stingray,sterling and a sub sterling.also, does anyone know if music123 ships to Singapore?
