What's the first thing you do when you buy a new guitar?

Take it home, play awhile, wipe it a little bit......and then try to figure out how I can mod or upgrade the shitz out of it!

btw...
i'm 15years old....
hahahs...
hmm...
if i could get my ibanez RG350DX or Schecter C-1 FR
take a taxi from swee lee or guitar 77 to LOOK FOR BEEZ
get him set up the axe to my preference
taxi home...
plug it into my marshall and strum G
play knocking on heavens door solo...
thn kick in my MT-2
start rhythm trashing and play some trivium,a7x and etc...
give it some dive bombs...
imagine i'm in a rock concert...
doing headbangs with that...
after everything...
i will cry...
cos i would never believe that i've one of those guitars

Keep it in its' case, put it aside and cry over the money that I lost from buying the guitar. Start a journal to see how long I can last without touching the guitar.

It's the devil I tell you. Dangerous beings they are these instruments.....

We're all gonna burn in hell.

very interesting and funny replies lol.
i guess most of us would have the similar reaction.

for me,

i'd look at it..play it..do necessary adjustments..play it again..wipe it...put it back.
then look again and again...and tell myself...
"omg i cant believe i got such a sweet axe.."

after few hours...
glance every now and then..

after few weeks...
"i want a new guitar!"

Restring. Setup. Polish. Play.

Checking for cosmetic blemishes etc. Never upgrade any part of it till i know the produceable tone inside out. If im not satisfied ill make the appropriate adjustments. ( Hasnt happened to any guitars ive bought )

Take pictures. Play it somemore. Polish somemore.

First thing I do? Change the strings to my own prefered gauge, and have the guitar set up properly. Tweak the neck if necessary. Then leave it alone for about 1 week without touching it, letting the neck settle in. Usually, everytime I bring home a new guitar, it's mostly from overseas, and the wood needs to acclimatise. The wood will expand. Frets will "shrink". etc etc... takes some time settling in.

Once it's settled in, then adjust the pickup heights to what I'd like.

THEN I'll play it.

just thought of sharing a tip when buying a new guitar. DO NOT i repeat DO NOT i repeat again DO NOT i repeat once more DO NOT buy a guitar on display. Chances of it having electronics problem is very high thats why they are put on display

not really though... when i bought my tele, it was on display too... Not all guitars on display can be touched by hands of everyone... but those which can be touched by everyone's hands are on display...

that's why, you must "abuse" the guitar when u try... haha.. my 3 guitars were all on display and nothing wrong with them...

:-D
