Are there any Fender American Standard crafted in Japan?

The workmanship for Japanese vs Mexican vs American differs. Japanese ones are bang for your dollar and always reliable. I feel sound does get compromise somehow. Maybe it's just the construction methods or wood quality used.

American ones still sound better, sometimes not as compared as the cost implied, but better.

I think the difference between the MIk and CIJ lies in their production.

Correct me if i'm wrong but fender japan is "almost" a seperate entity from fender usa. production QC's are tighter and fender japan have thier own line of intruments which is licensed by fender. " e,g mickey strat , richie kotzen tele " just some of the many japan models that are not found in the U.S market unless maybe it's a custom shop model.

i have owned a CIJ tele and strat before and i have to say they are very well built and bang for the buck.

The american standards are priced quite low at swee lee now. these are good buys at their promo rate. check them out

i think it will depend on how much you would be willing to spend on a tele.
With the current promo at swee lee for the standard series, (not sure if there still is a promo price) I would say pick up an American standard tele

best to get MIAs telecasters. if you can afford it, why not go for it?

Try them all and go with the one that sounds best, which you can afford.
Not true that MIA automatically means better quality and tone. Every piece of alder, maple etc is different; there will be lousy MIA ones and great sounding MIM ones, just make sure you try them all and inspect the guitar properly for any issues..

Tried the beautiful paisley Tele there and got a real unhappy and confused time there.

Great guitar too. Too bad I chose not to buy it.
