What's a good chorus pedal I can get with budget of $250??

damn man with that moola any chorus you want~

An old Boss CE-1 or CE-2 are killer. I have a DC-3 which is a different kinda chorus then most regular ones but unique and can be used for solos without muddying much your sound.

A regular stock CH1 are good enough to me.

Then you got Redwitch. Everyone seems to really want that. Not everyone can afford one.

EHX choruses are cool and can be pretty lush.

Go get a stock CH1 and with the rest of your money save up and get a good delay or phaser.

HELL. With 250 go get a good delay pedal. why do you need a chorus for? 8)

^ yup - DC-3 is my choice too. Clear, pristine spacious effect it produce. I got DC-3 and CE-5. CE-5, like other chorus, gives you that detuned sound and can sound "muddy" to some.

You could get 10 of these:

If you got the dough, if you got the budget, spend relative to the budget.

While you can get good gear for the $ and cheap stuff can sound good... you do get what you pay for. Most people/reviews qualify this by saying the following truth-laden line:

"Its so good so awesome so wow! FOR THE MONEY."

And while you can get expensive gear that sucks, that is where reviews come in, and trust me, the probability of cheap gear sucking is higher than the expensive gear side.

That said, with $250, it could possibly be a Boss CE-2. It could be a (highly unlikely but possible) 2nd hand Analogman chorus. It could be a HBE chorus.

Hmm.

I second the fab chorus. Works well with acoustic (can get 12-string sound), clean electric (sparkly rhythm) and overdrive (smooth lead tones a la david gilmour in "division bell" era Pink Floyd).

If you want, can come my place to test, or check either music ensemble or yamaha out.

small stone sounds alright... it does one good sound. thats it.

problem is i perceive a slight volume drop when i kick it in? and the usable range of the chorus doesn't make sense after 9 o'clock setting. The slide switch works well in toggling between chorus and retarded chorus modes.

so basically it only does 1 sound.
and thankfully i only need 1

very true...if you have the money..go and use it to get a "WORTH-YOUR-MONEY" pedal..be sure of what sound you want also..try out different pedals..

I recommend CE-2...dead easy and really sounds different with a slight tweak of the knobs..

Actually i'm currently using a small clone. But the setback for me really is the 'pop' sound whenever i stpe on the footswitch? If I can solve that, i might not even need a new chorus.

Have tried a CE-2, a keeley one at it. Really liked it. So nice, so vintage, so idiot proof. But really hard to come by this one. Definitely my top choice.

Have also tried the h2o chorus. nice... but there seems to be some volume boost. Didn't like that.

tried CE-5 too.... too thin sounding for me...

If you like a sound, go for it dude.

How many times has one settled for something less, something different, out of convenience? Then next time, you are just not satisfied. That nagging in your head just carries on.

I know a friend like that... and it was about chorus somemore. He 1st heard a TC Electronics chorus. $500 buckeroos. But he decided, nah, too expensive, no deal. For the next what, 1 - 2 yrs, he had other choruses but never satisfied, as a result he seldom used them. Recently he got the TC. Happy? Satisfied? Tone in his head attained. Done.

If you really dig the CE-2, look harder, Ebay, Luther Classifieds, post ads on SOFT.

Note, play with it stock first. The hi fi thing is a matter of taste and IMO, practicality.

Especially if you play with a bright tone, it might be overwhelming with a bright chorus going on. It might. YMMV.

its the voodoo labs analog chorus for me amongst all chorus pedals readily available at ebenex. a bit steep in price(350) so try hunting for a second hand which might fall within your budget..

but personally, id suggest you get an 18v danelectro coolcat..never had the chance to try the 9v version though..availability is another thing..

Frankly for the price, I'd go for another Boss CE-1 clone, the Retro-Sonic Chorus Ensemble. That would be so much better IMO, uses the same NOS Bucket Brigade chips and has that 2nd footswtch to toggle between chorus/vibrato modes.
