What is a NU-Metal?? And any reference to any bands?

brothers and sisters. can anybody tell me what is NU-Metal and any bands in particular. Am I looking at Linkin park to be NU-Rock?

Sorry ah I'm too much of the leotard wearing, and make up on kinda bands

nu-metal bands are bands like limp bizkit, korn, papa roch, system of a down, linkin park juz a few off the top of my head, not too sure wad the definition of nu-metal is anw, prob lower tunings and no solos i tink
 
Yeah linkin park is one of em. Bands like Korn are nu metal too...
From my view, I think they love to down tune their guitars veryyy low...Make it sound heavier...they sort of use the same groovy riffs...sometimes they have lots of effects too...Thats all i know for now

Stay away from Nu-Metal...its badd....

hmm..ya...usually nu-metal uses heavy guitar riffs without solo..and has alot of electronics sound in their song....but recently disturbed had added solos in their new songs...but i think they r still nu-metal...
 
don't bother with nu-metal. it's boring almost immediately. you're better off listening to death metal if you really want heavy music.

all i can say is one man's meat is another's poison...but do keep those bashing comments to urself...theres already enough genre bashing here in soft already...you wun like ppl goin around talking bad about ur fav genre would you...
 
IM a big fan of nu metal last time we call it rap metal hahahaha ....korn ratm limp lp ..make us go wild with all the electro sounds and heavy drop tune guitar riffs
 
Slipknot comes to mind instantly.
Anything, even pop is cool, as long as you like it. :lol:
 
Yamaha Asian Beat Grand Prix winner for Singapore, X-TECH, plays nu-metal (or so they claimed). No fancy guitar solos ... but still they came up tops.

Respect all genre of music. I'm sure bands like Korn and Linkin Park are selling more albums than Yngwie Malmsteen today.
 
Well not so well known Nu Metal bands in my book would Mushroomhead, Endo, Adema, Coal Chamber and lots more. If you guys don't mind I could make up a list. :lol:
 
nu metal basically uses a lot of 7 string guitars and a hell lot of efx.. but the sound coming out is dark heavy, and can make u headbang if needed..
 
Ok. since nu metal is equal to metal music without solos (guitar, bass, drums..ok especially guitars), so Slipknot is out la isn't..or issit? Must hear their songs again..
And behold brothers and sisters. anyone heard Metallica's St. Anger. there's no solo...
So Metallica's St' Anger=Nu Metal Album? 8O My Goodness what have Metallica Become.. Arrrggghh. :o
 
hahaha...aiya...dun worry abt genre that much la..its just use to catagorise different kind of music...as long as u like the music u listen to...den y bother what genre it is...happy can liao..haha

Slipknot is out? As in they are not considered nu-metal? But I hardly remember hearing any guitar solos on Slipknot. And also, it isn't a strict rule that nu-metal bands don't solo, it's just a general, sweeping statement. (;
And yes, one does not have to be too obsessed with genre categorisations.

Very true, LP would most likely be forgotten. But I doubt Korn will suffer the same fate.
 
Hmm imo for a metal band/song which doesn't have a solo doesn't mean it's associated with Nu Metal. You gotta look at the overall package. What kind of approach is the band coming from, Underground or Commercial. Then listen to the songs. It's best not to limit it to one song. Try to listen to a couple of them.
