Hi there, can someone help me? What does the term "More Transparent" in an effect pedal mean?

Thanks

I interpret "transparent" as "retaining the original tone"

if u use "transparent" in the context of drive pedals, a "transparent" drive pedal doesn't alter much of the "eq", "thickness", "compression" of the original sound

also, being "not transparent" may not be a negative thing. I believe some musicians prefer not so transparent sometimes

but the "original tone" is also dependent on guitar, pickups and amp, so strictly speaking, "transparent" is relative

Hi

Lotsa people understand it diferently
Some think transparent means the natural tone of the guitar comes through even when the pedal is engaged.

Some think transparent means that the pedal is responsive to subtle changes in guitar volume knob, picking dynamics etc

And there are the others who think transparent means theres no change in the tone whatever the setting on the pedal is..

Its up to you really lah.

To me from a pedal builder when that term is used on a guitar pedal, it just means that your original guitar sound will be retained.

To me from a sales/marketing point of view its also a marketing jargon that pedal buyers like to read and proclaim.

I'd love to hear people who talk about megacrushing djung djung gain monsters as a transparent. heh heh....

well Mr hub37 .... next time i will refer all my cust to you for query on this "transparent" ...ok !!

I always thought a transparent effect is one using a see-through enclosure.

Hmmm

Oh man, what's happenning to Singaporeans...

We're getting LAMER AND LAMER man!!!

Haha...

Take a blackstone OD, yellow channel, then compare to ur clean tone... then take a TS9, compare...

Hahaha... transparent.

This is the most transparent and most mojofied transparent device you can buy and use for pure transparent tone.

Buy it if you're serious about TONE!

Yo Blueark! Can you seriously build something like that? I'm thinking of transferring all the guts of my existing pedals into lightweight enclosures like that leh! liddat no more backache!

I don't recommend because

number 1: plastic = cannot step hard or will break

number 2: plastic = no natural shielding = noise or need shielding paint or other method.

See? Transparent effects aren't that great :D
