What do you guys think of Sg scene?

The local scene is pretty bad for metal. Really really bad, Singaporean metalheads exactly all over the place. If i could take myself to europe or the US, other considerations aside, i DEFINITELY would

Germany's Wacken Open Air!!! Every type of effing metal is there..! haha!

IMO most bands should just collaborate and go D.I.Y like a few of the softies here.

minus the oraganiser = more control over set times, the profit is yours if you've decided to make profit, or you can just eat up the cost and let everyone in for free! Exposure! Everyone loves free gigs!

NO DEAL! FREE BEER!

i think diy is the way to go. why wait for people to call you up when you can diy! people have this impression that diy gigs are those gigs featuring lousy bands and all that stuff. boy have they got it wrong. haha. LIONCITYDIY YO.

Small scale DIY is pretty cool .. You get to meet many new people and make friends with other bands and shit like that.

As for Large scale free gigs.. Let's just say if a band plays anything faster than 80 BPM or so, people are gonna get hurt :O

Okay, having said all that, who is interested to DIY?
I am interested to DIY. Anyone else?

I can provide musical instruments and sound system.
However, licensing, venue, bands, beer and crowd, i cannot provide.

this kind of thing is best discussed in person, with a proper plan inked out. people make great plans behind their computer screens

= robsg
can elaborate more
or patse some details
so the bands get the whole facts right
rather them wondering how it works

cheers
good idea though

no special deal lah....just listing what i can provide if all of us decide to DIY.
Coz everyone talking about DIY but no one really "provides" anything to DIY.
So thought i just list what I can provide and maybe all of us can DIY and earn together, kinda like profit sharing....means got earn, earn together, no earn just play lor.

The best is to rally a music movement.

Let everyone in Singapore know that the music industry is worth investing in. Every budding musicians must stand out and support their music instead of sitting behind computer screens and just grumble about the lack of opportunities.

Heh, what a direct hit. LOL.

But to be frank, we have to take actions to improve the scene cos nobody will do it except us.
