what chord is this pls ?

this is more like interval?

D , E, F#, G = 1, 2, 3, 4

so D to G = Perfect 4th

D, E, F#, G# = 1, 2, 3, 4#

so D to G# = Augmented 4th

Is this right? I mean if we have

a chord with C, F#, G - we would call it C aug4 ?

Actually it's quite subjective ....

If you have a chord ...

D, F#, G#, C = D7b5

But apparently this chord does not have a 3rd(F#) nor b7th(C) .... hence we can't tell whether it's a major or a minor or dominant .... unless it's suggested by the next chord ... which could be a C#maj7 or G#7 ( just suggesting)

Augmented 4th means sharped 4th.
D=unison
Eb=Minor 2nd
E=Major 2nd
F=Minor 3rd
F#=Major 3rd / Diminished 4th
G=Perfect 4th
G#=Augmented 4th / Diminished 5th
A=Perfect 5th
A#=Augmented 5th / Minor 6th
B=major 6th
C=Minor7th
C#=Major7th

Since G# is both Augmented 4th or b5 .... we can call it D(b5) or DAugmented 4th? I guess as long as it conveys the right info. :)

An Augmented chord has a sharpen 5th .... not 4th.

D Augmented = D, F#, A#
F# Augmented = F#, A#, D
A# Augmented = A#, D, F#

They are all interchangable ... perfect substitudes of each other.
Try this:
2
3
3
x
x
x

6
7
7
x
x
x

10
11
11
x
x
x

They all sound exactly the same ... hence you can use them as freely as you like and even move them around on the duration of the chord.

You can also substitute it with a F#7(#5) ... F#, A#, D, E ... almost the same notes.

yup .... Amaj7 can be played ...
4
2
2
2
x
x

Hence Amaj7sus4 can be played ...

4
3
2
2
x
x

But when i first heard the chord ..... i heard it as an Aug4th more than a Maj7th note. Very subjective indeed ... :)
But if you improvise .... both are still using the same scale. D lydian = A Ionian.

An Augmented chord has a sharpen 5th .... not 4th
this is why i asked if there is a Aug4? i can't remember seeing one. hee..hee.. me limited knowledge ok.

F#=Major 3rd / Diminished 4th
Diminished 4th should be Gb (i know it is the same note as F# but for theory, got to be proper abit. coz if we count D, E, F# it is only 3rd but if we count D, E, F#, G then it is a 4th)

G#=Augmented 4th / Diminished 5th
Diminished 5th should be Ab (i know it is the same note as G# but for theory, we got to be proper abit)
