whammy.

Yes, esp a floyd rose whammy, which I don't have. Damn I want one, it sounds super. I can't do slayer dive bombs on a normal bridge.

Tell me more about Slayer divebombs.

Its super wild and dramatic ah...I heard floyd rose bridges can do whammys with a diff of up to two octaves. I have to yank super hard on my fixed bridge to get something remotely similar, while is it effortless for a floyd rose bridge.

Ah. 2 octaves = to a 24 fret bend. No kidding.

A recessed Floyd Rose (eg. Ibanez style) with enough routed space behind in, will be able to achieve something like a 6 fret bend with say, an open G string.

The dives will basically bring the low E down all the way to nothing... the strings just flop around.

A normal divebomb? They also employ harmonics then dive bomb, to make it sound more... well, extreme.

Hmmm. So there's not much of a difference, so much for creeping's over-the-top distinction.

jump from the top-rope and scream "BANZAAAAAAII!!"

but seriously, do a search pls. It's been discussed before.

common and easily answered questions should be referred to an existing thread.
Only questions pertaining to topics which are constantly in flux and highly subjective make for good discussion.

But if you disagree Phil, feel free to entertain all the noobish questions

I will do my best, Vaiyen.
But I guess like you, I will soon tire of it and will chastise others of not doing a search.

Hard to say la. Slayer uses a non-floyd rose bridge. But Ive tried a floyd rose bridge against my fixed bridge and the difference is really there. Fixed bridge u have to yank like hell, and the whammys are a bit too mild and not "wild".

The 2 octaves thingy was stupid yes, but there is a pedal designed to do that, and I mixed em up.
