Wee Lee jamming place.

List of things i have broken at wee lee. or found broken:

Cymbals... around 5 were cracked
Drums.. the drum skin torn sia
Sticks.. the drum stick broke
Amps... one of their stupid Amps Blew... and after that it sounded as if it had a permanent flanger effect

however, i agree that abuse of equiptment is very bad... and it doesnt mean that you have to be veri trashy even if you play black metal.

hmmm suay lahz aljunied wee lee ... law firm open next door ... but ya they personally don really like heavy stuff so yup we jammers shld understand and go to another studio ... four tones beats and boons are quite "heavy music FRiendly" places

Boons do not allow "hardcore" music, so a hardcore band knowing that still chooses to go to Boons studio to jam "hardcore" aint that a lil......

Weelee aljunied generally do not allowed "underground" or the relatively heavier style music ; whatever reason being. So if you choose to go jam there playing a style of music which u obviously know the owner dun fancy, you cant expect much friendliness. Haha

Its just like going to BurgerKing, eating KFC cheesefries and expecting BK staff to smile at you and say hey enjoy your food. haha

Yea... the "heavy" i meant is Weelee aljunied , not boons in my post.
I know the uncle there is very nice. He knows me very well...coz i used to jam there with my bassist 2`peice. Furthermore, i misplace my hp there twice, both time manage to get it back, very lucky! Btw, iam talking abt the "inside" boons. Anyways, me and my bandmates have nv been asked to leave/ban before, we always have a gd relation with all studio owners. This is credited to understanding human behaviour, u understand the person, and why he/she behave in a certain way, sure can avoid unneccesary confrontation

uh, i really like the studio at yishun.. Lee Kuan Seng? Yeah the auntie is really really friendly... room 5 is rather big.. yamaha drums, laney bass amps and HUGE peavey guitar amps. :) 16/hr for room 5.

oh cool! i stay in yishun, but i duno where's leekuanseng... lol, wah lau, so blur one...

where isit huh?

yeah man i totally agree with u guys. The uncle in the 'inside boon' is damn nice. haha. he likes to joke arnd too. and 2 days back as my band were suppose to start at 6 30. but then they were half and hour late. he took the intiative too ask if we wanted to start at 7. I was really glad he did. such gestures are rare nowadays. :)

FYI, the "No hardcore or underground music allowed" sign at wee lee is a throwback to the 90s when there was a crack down on such forms of music.

Every thing there is properly set up, well grounded and maintained.

i have to disagree with this,at least based on older experience. got a few minor shocks from the mics before in wee lee,and well maintained? you've seriously got to be kidding..

doesnt really matter, stopped rehearsing in jamming studios ages ago.

that place not bad, in terms of equipment, but booking a slot there can be a hassel.. last time my band booked there, we kena kick out cuz supposedly, "cock up" and another of the "regular" bands playing there...

so kinda anti that place now.. plus that small kid there is bloody annoying... :x

take 800 from yishun interchange.. its more to the sembawang side where the 14 hr mac is.. past that air force or airport thingy there.. yeah.. about er...10 stops from yishun interchange...

@shredded: it's along the same road, just go walking towards the macdonalds. you can usually spot it cos alot of the jammers would hang around outside the studio.

the last time i went there the auntie's eldest son was the friend of my drummer, so we got urm.. some special concessions like extra-time. the place is nice lah, but i think it could do with repainting the walls and fixing some new lights. the eq there is pretty decent too.

am i the only guy that thinks beat merchants' lighting is really bad? the last time i went there it was so freaking dark i couldn't even make out my friend's silhoulette who was standing just about a metre away from me. :?

wee lee ain't all that bad.... i have never had any bad experiences with either the simei one nor the aljunied one..... all the uncles are very nice to me.... one even gave me two packets of nasi briyani to eat.... ya guys need to talk to them as friends, not strangers.... if you smile, the whole world smiles with you....

and yes, the equiptments aren't top notch.... but equalisation os amps and drummer's strokes can be adjusted so that everyone can hear everyone.... this comes with experience? anyways, jamming studios were set up so that local bands can have a place to practise.... some of us may not have amps... drum sets at home to pract... so we come here.... we can tune down the amps, sit on the floor and play to pract.... don't need top of the line equiptment to play or pract good music./....

top equipment

Musings - true story

A rocker dude came to jam at my place one day, carrying his hardcore black axe, walking with an attitude ( As there was like girls around) I was like, die lah, something is bound to crash. After 5 minutes he came to me and said to me, still in his high and mighty zone, " I think your amp died man" Wah lau havent play yet thing spoil already..

I went into the room, smiled to myself and then to him, " dude, you plugged into the headphone jack man, you see the word input on this jack? This is where you put your cable in.." 1-0 to me.

I have never seen anyone leave so quickly after their session ended.

Whats the point of a $2000 amp man? heehee
