Hola guys,
This is in response to the 'Rock Chicks look here' thread. Someone mentioned something about setting up a directory for female musicians as an alternative to just having their pictures posted up, so I thought I'd give that a try.
Now first of all, before posts about 'why females, the guys can play all the same' and stuff related to that sprout up, this isn't the typical 'grrrl power! we're more powderful than the guys!' shiet. If there's anyone who's really adamant about keeping to that opinion, hey by all means please do it like they did for the pictures thread - go set up a directory dedicated to male musicians or something. It'd do many good for local music anyway. Can be brother-sister site some more.
But I digress. The main objective of setting a site/directory dedicated to female musicians is not to compare them to males - rather, it's to help them gain recognition in the local music scene. Recognition as in two parts: first, to show how capable our local female musicians can be, and secondly for people to 'discover' the ones they never really knew about - this, hopefully, will help make things easier for people who're looking for female musicians to work with (think 'where are all the female drummers/guitarists etcetc' threads).
So. How's this prospective site going to work? This is where this thread comes in. Suggestions, ideas, anything that you think would make it more effective/interactive/godknowswhatelse? Post them here! I've to admit though - I'm not that much of a html expert or anything, so nothing too cheem okay. Interviews, a list of females musicians with descriptions and links to their audio sites and stuff are basically what I have in mind now.
So post away! (please?)
