WD40 on strings

hmm heard its not good to over put it...

maybe spray on tissure and rub over stings it good
but must remember to wipe off excess with a dry tissue...

but i suppose using a specialised string cleaner is better.. like fast fret... instead of using wd40 which is all purpose oil...

fast fret is quite cheap anyway and can be used for a long time!

When the WD40 gets into your fretboard... man....

Just use a normal string cleaner... Subversion has been recommending this string clean (Can't rem name) available at Yamaha @ $5. Or you can buy the GHS string cleaning cloth... also at yamaha.

No no dun put WD40 on your strings. WD40 is to lubricate rusty parts, gears etc.. not for guitar strings. The chemicals it contains are too strong. Use a proper string cleaner like what the rest mentioned. Any brand is fine in my opinion.. :)

well... WD40 didnt have any adverse effects on my guitars man ...
though i only used those for a few months... then i switch to lemon oil.

As i can moisturise my fretboard and keep my strings rust free. 2 in 1.

my guitar isnt corroding or anything.

i think the best thing is still to change strings regularly.

it's D'Andrea, $5.80 @ Yamaha combo shop... it's merely a string cleaning fluid.

for a cleaner/ proctective coating fluid, try DR's String life, available @ Davis, $18:

WD40 = Water Displacement Formula 40.

Please for the love of God, don't let any of this stuff go near your guitar.

Just stick to conventional string cleaners.

NEVER use anything not meant for the guitar on a guitar.

Thimbles, Hose Clips, Vibrators and Remote Controls are a whole different matter altogether ;)

Go get a can of Ghee, and dip your left hand into it everytime before you play. Confirm your strings will not rust.....

later you see your strings growing fat .. ahahah .. oh .. don't shred too fast also .. later catch fire .. ahahah .

sorry i couldn't help it ..

i like fastfret. and i also like to rub my nose before i play so i get the natural oils from my face on my strings  i'm not joking btw it actually helps me play faster and i heard somewhere that oils from your skin will help to seal up a rosewood fretboard, prolonging its life and reducing wear. that might be complete rubbish though.
