Watch Lunarin's Silverpiece vid, it's good

lass with bass, yeah.

Maybe we're all expecting an Amy Lee kinda vocals for this sort of music.

I still like the vcocals of Morphy, though.

Influence by a certain band

yeah the vox aint great...sounds whiny...but the whole construction of the song is unique...and trust me...i am hardcore Tool and APC fan....cept that i never bought eMotive :P

one song i heard was overly similar was Dry....its the same as Lateralus's riff...but this things happen when u're writing songs and u're overly influenced by that band...

RHCP = Tom Petty anyone? :P

but other songs by Lunarin are good seriously...The Chrysalis and The Tower are great tracks...

somehow...if they could get a Maynard sounding vox :P that would be super yummy

Yeah, great music! I rikes their stuff...

I like Lunarin's music and really enjoyed their performance at Baybeats 2006, really tight and 'explosive'!

I'm also quite a huge fan of TOOL and APC, no other bands sound like them, especially TOOL (a really hard act to follow!)...until Lunarin burst into the music scene.

was that a good thing? to have our own local TOOL or APC...I don't think so!
yes...like I mentioned...I enjoy listening to Lunarin (obvious reason is I like TOOL and APC), but to say it blatantly...Lunarin is a RIPOFF of those 2 great bands. imo...Lunarin is more comparable to APC.

I'm sure hardcore TOOL and APC fans can spot lots of similarities in Lunarin songs (singing style, song structures, arrangments, etc...). for example the guitar riff just before the breakdown when Linda Ong whispers in Silverpieces is so much alike APC's Judith (Maynard James Keenan also whispered during the breakdown)!

Sorry Lunarin, I dig your music and your shows but hopefully your next album won't sound so much like TOOL and APC.
Hope to see u guys play LIVE in the near future!

btw guys...u guys gotta check out the short clip of Linda Ong on stomp.com.sg! :)

oops...your right dude.

the song I'm refering to is The Hollow.

you're most definitely a HARDCORE APC fan! :)

haha yeah!! and its cool to hear another APC/Tool Fan...its really rare in Singapore...they're good bands...just that they dun go thru the conventional musical writing...

The Hollow = such a great song :P

well, Lunarin is a COOL band...the performance at baybeats was really tight...

cnt wait for them to go gigging again...

doubt the second album will be released soon though...they just released their album last year Sept...but who knows :P sure to buy it when it comes..

Maybe we can all meet up and go to a Lunarin gig together? hahaha

Actually, for a 3-piece to pull that kinda music off is pretty good liao, despite the similarities.

Linda Ong is featured in NewMan mag this month also. Read it and find out why you shouldn't mess with her.

this month?! woah!! hahaha

yeah a 3-piece to kick off that kinda of compositions is something...i always had something for trios...Cream,Nirvana,Motorhead...even Bee Gees (RIP to one of them)...

NO!!!!! ME FIRST!!! RINDA MAREEE MEEE!!!!!

I WILL RIGHT UP YOUR FI-YAH!!! WE SHALL SWIM UNDERWA-TAH!!!

it really sounds toosimilar to "the hollow"

and to edder whose looking for an 'industry expert' to diss the video, well.. i'm no industry expert, but i've worked my fair share of video and that whole white background thing isn't terribly technically hard to pull off -) but hey, for an indie band, at least they got a promo vid out -)

and does anyone else think electrico's "Love In The New Wave" music video looks like an MOS greeting card? haha, but still, production value was rather high for that one, better than Runaway.. wahaha -)

cheers guys, good to see singapore is starting to shoot videos for the english scene.

Oooh...I see a Linda Ong fan club evolving. Lunarin has taken a backseat thanks to hot-rodded male softies.

nah i love Lunarin as a whole, man. they're good musicians...and to write similarly to APC is quite difficult...coz APC uses C# standard tuning...while Lunarin,if i'm not wrong uses Drop D...therefore, to achieve that deep, brooding sound that APC does is really quite a chore...

Good to hear that, man. Let's appreciate a good band for what it is lah. All bands sound like some other bands in some way, anyway. Even imitators need to be good to be convincing.

hmm yeah...but i prefer to call it influence rather than imitators...coz bands like Lunarin rarely surface... 8)

that's because not many people play like josh freese..

arggh, no disrespect to the band and all, but the palm muted breakdown is a blatent ripoff from the same breakdown in "the hollow"
