Making gameboy music is much easier than making music in a band.
You can even compose a song anywhere?!
Imagine using your classic gameboys during a MRT ride,i bet those scenesters will be like 'oh,coolshit'
it happened before,trust me
All you need is;
-GAMEBOYS(not DS,SP,GBA)
-Blank catridge to store the music sequencer
-A music sequencer that can be bought at littlesounddj.com and installed inside your blank catridge
-Mixers/Preamps

and your good to goo
if you want to learn more about em,head over to www.8bitcollective.com (Gameboy/8BIT music forum)

Hope to see more Chiptuners rising up in Singapore XO

cute tracks you have..

perhaps not exactly 8bit, but nds has nitro tracker and psp with psp rhythm which can do sequencing and stuff. Good thing that its freeware

i do a bit of those on ndsl and psp, but never really gotten too serious before slacking off to do other things. I have a first generation gameboy from my younger days, still working, but never have the chance to get lsdj to play around with.

locally, i only know of analog girl using gameboy for some of her compositions.

I tot Mei uses the DS Lite/ Electro Plankton?

You know this thread will die faster than the 'Discuss your fave (insert genre) bands' thread because

1) This genre has no loud and overtly compressed guitars.
2) This genre has no loud and overtly distorted guitars.
3) This genre has no guitars.
4) This genre doesn't need tube amps.

Do you do live shows, btw?

i seem to recall somewhere or something which i saw/read that gave me the impression of her using a gameboy. Heh, memory failing perhaps.

distortion not a problem, just connect the thing to mixer and put a distortion in the aux send/return. Chuggah tiu tiu

dragonforce are like so crazy about game effects.... that they can use guitars to produce pacman sound effects.. -.-

the pacman sound is just small small part for the geetar playing in their music

8bit music/chiptune, is created with the gaming console and totally sounding like old school in-game music. If you havent check out the site which threadstarter provided or his music, do have a listen.

both are in differently league imho.

okay it really sounds like old school game haha those nintendo games.. lol. i try to link this topic with dragonforce as both involves game effects sound. LOL.

haha.. awesome, ive been reading about this for quite some time,
but still cant seem to understand it

currently all i have is a gameboy colour,
anyone know where i can get the older version of the gameboy and whatever stuff i need to start making gameboy music?

There's this Japanese act which some of my friends are crazy about: CMYK. You can look for them. They have a jazz/ swing beat to their tunes and most of their instrumentation are in the 8-bit/ Nintendo-core thing.

Apparently, the group also produces their own 8-bit synth patches. I heard from Joanna of Zero Sequence lah. She went to download... I think she used it in 'The Grim Phantasm'. The Pacman sounding bit of the solo.

Skream is pretty awesome. Tsk's music reminds me off glitchy chiptune with some 2-step grooves thrown in for good measure, not wobbly or bass-heavy enough for dubstep but what do I know. Still it's pretty impressive, great work.

hey what transferrers do u guys used to transfer the data? im thinking of getting the transferrer II or bleepbloop, do they sell them in SG?

yes i do.
Why do you need guitars when you can blast your gameboy.
Some would rather see a guy playing a Gameboy with electro shit coming
out rather than a guy playing guitar with idk what shit coming out

lol.. i got a black DMG already and just promodded it a few days ago..
will try to make some tunes after my common tests..

feel like saving up to get a kaossilator to work with it..
