Wanna Buy A Bridge Pickup

Yeah. Not all heavy pickups are only useful for heavy music.

For example, the Invader actually produces a very nice clean sound, and the Jazz is a monster on distortion.

haha do u have a problem with his choice of PU?
No, I do not have a problem. Its is not exactly a new model. Decade ago, brute forces was popular, the louder the better. Perhaps nothing much has changed since :P

Steve Vai uses it on his floyd equipped strat long ago.

Well, what I can say right now, is that the X2N is a versatile pickup. Its not all metal only. I can do funk with it. 8)

same goes for the Duncan Invader- many thought it's strictly metal with this one, but it's one of the best, smooth midrange type pickup for fusion, ala Allan Holdsworth...

Pickups! Ah, always an interesting topic to discuss about!
:D
Personally IMHO, just like guitars there's no one stop choice in pickups that'll serve all your musical needs. Many have tried many of the wide options out there and justabout all of 'em except "endorsees who've a contract to abide to" will admit to that.

However, if you are certain about your musical path and want no compromises in all out Heavy tone then of course you have the Invaders and X2Ns to pop into your axes but do note that Pickup designs. These pickups are super overwound high output with super magnets to produce a big signal that'll kick the front end of any tube amp! They are meant to be thick and heavy sounding but do compromise on the details of subtle highs which are rarely used in the genre of music.

The PAF Pro, Evolution, Super Distortion, JB humbuckers are all basically variations of the original McCarthy designed Gibson PAFs. One trick is to use a cleaner sounding pickup and let the amps and tone shaper pedals do the the "Oomph" work.
