Wah Wah!!!

Made my day. Cracked me up so hard...

*edit* i tried it... the increasing of tone (knob on your guitar) determines the variation in volume, which is also determined by the set up of your guitar (HSH, SSS, HSS, ETC ETC...)

Imagine you spend a hundred or so one a jimmy wah pedal, then someone does this to you right in your face...

It's a cool trick but not very practical IMO. You are using both hands hands to create that kinda tone. With a wah pedal you have your feet to aid you so you can pick on more notes to create that effect.

Also, it lacks the sweep that real wah pedal does ie you either have an open tone or a closed tone. With a pedal you can control it some what to have it set right in between.

This is just too plain stupid... I had to say it. It doesn't even get close to a cheapo wah that you can buy... furthermore, I agree that you have limitations on doing this.

:) well this doesnt even come close to a wah, it only "acts" like one.

but if ur trying to say that someone could get a wah effect with the toggle switch when someone has a Wah pedal then, lol okay i get it :)

Interesting. Dunno what's up with the negative replies but that's an idea - i think guitarists should be open to it. If it works for a piece of music - why not?

Another way to pseudo wah is to sweep the tone control from 0 to full (depending on your tone pot taper) when you hit a note. The value of the cap matters here. If its all good, you get a lovely "wah" effect. Actually, it sounds more like a horn than a wah. Works best on cleans with humbucker/thick tones.

Eh... I've been thinking about those tone pots you're using. What are they ah? Can't get that nice wah sweep you have.

A. This is what Jimi Hendrix does at the beginning of Voodoo Chile.
B. John Petrucci uses this a lot as a tool to colour his solos. Very useful! But timing must be chun!
C. It's different from a real wah. Provides different effect, and different applications.

Still funny? I don't think so... Try using it properly in your own playing (application). You'll find it's much harder to do than it looks.

Don't mock it till you've tried it. One of the best tricks to add flavour to your tone man...

Its an RS Guitarworks CTS pot.

They use a brass shaft instead of the currently regular aluminium shafts. Feels more sturdy. And the overall QC seems better.

Worth the extra dough? I dunno.

LOL... I'm not mocking anything, I'm just amazed at how this type of sound can be achieved easily... Its quite fun...

Heh... Sorry lah. Not aimed directly at you. Basically to all the naysayers of this technique... (and yes, it's actually a playing technique. So is using a Makita Drill:mrgreen:)
