Actually, that statement is not entirely wrong. In fact, listening to ANY sound through headphones will sound different from listening to an amplifier or speaker. This is plain physics. One has the sound directly pushed into the ears, while the other has the sound affected by the room acoustics.
Also, the headphones and the speakers will have their own set of constructions that will basically "colour" the raw sound, thus giving it a slightly different tone. The difference can be heard even between 2 headphones or 2 amps. It is basically an inevitable and unavoidable result of the sound signal chain.
Yes, it depends on the amp you use, because unlike most other multifx in the market, me-50 does NOT have a build in amp emulation. It is made to compliment your amp. So if you use the me-50, your priority for a good amp becomes higher.
