Hi im looking to buy a vol pedal, but the think is i want to try to keep my budget ard 100. Whats a gd buy?

i never touch my guitars volume knob personally cause it just screws with my gain level and tone. and due to stage presence, the knob always turns by itself. so i always stick to the volumes on amps. i havent seen anyone use a volume pedal personally. IMO i would use the money to get another kind of pedal.

huh? y get a volume pedal? just use the knobs on ur guitar mah...

Volume knob on guitar will change the amount drive of distortion/OD pedal. That's why you can roll off the volume and get cleaner sound.
Volume pedal will increase or decrease the volume after all the effect, so it doesn't affect the distortion.

Another application of volume pedal, is to do volume swelling technique easier.

popeye is right... with a vol pedal, you can put it anywhere in your chain.

Vol swells before your delay pedal? Sounds dreamy and sweet!

Vol swells after your delay pedal? Yeap, can be done!

so on so forth.

And when you are playing .... you dun want to waste a hand trying to adjust your volume .... Volume pedals comes in handy ....

On my telecaster I switch the control plate around so that the volume knob is right there. Don't have long fingers like Roy Buchanan or Danny Gatton for those volume swells.

Tone knob is within easy reach too, good for pseudo-wah effect. Needs practise though.

i remember playing for the forerunners (Campus Crusade for Christ) for their Christmas tour in 1999.

I was using a Roland Volume Pedal (can't rem the model). It's pretty useful because usually when i play in a gig or concert .... i will put my knob on my guitar to full volume. This is because i want the P.A to have full control over my volume ... because i dun trust my own judgement of what the audience is listening when i am on stage.

When i solo with Distortion guitar ... the volume knob on the guitar no longer adjusts the volume ... but the gain of the distortion. Hence if i want to adjust my volume without adjusting the gain ..... i need a volume pedal.

I usually put my volume pedal to half position normally ... and i only jack up my volume slightly during solos. Not too much because that will throw the rest of the band off.

but doesnt an EQ pedal also changes the volume and yet also the tone? i thought using EQ pedal u can boost the level, hence the volume?

yes ... it does .... but you can't adjust an EQ pedal with your leg can you? Volume pedals provides you with a convenience that none other pedals do ... some call it Volume pedal ... some call it expression pedal becuase it can be programmed to work like a wah and even control distortion and reverb levels ... but a pedal is a pedal .... EQ pedals are on/off switch .... Volume/expression pedals are variable resistors ....

It is something that can help you ... I'm not telling you that you MUST have it ... it's just something useful .... if it doesn't work for you ...dun use it ... dun have to criticise or suggest an alternative.

Hmm.

Lol that was funny. Tickled. I've seen a friend of mine use a volume pedal with a lap steel.. pretty interesting how not many people nowadays actually experiment with slides (or any other guitar quirks)... but rather focus on how fast their fingers can go.

Eq 20 can....programmable :D

Anyways, Volume pedals are a must for live gigs.unless you have a sound man with telepathy.

i use the Boss volume pedal fv-50h, last in the fx chain heading to the amp, acts like a master volume. got the minimum volume set at 8 for rhythms [ pedal fully backed down ] and hit it forward for solo level boost. tone is a bit altered with the pedal equipped, surprisingly i like what it does.

If its a passive vol pedal, its going ot be a treble cut right? Same case as guitar vol/tone pots, how they put a load on the circuit.

There's some 2nd hand on luther. :) The little alligator is good.

I might be wrong, but I don't see any. If there is, I don't mind checking it out as well. :)
