i intend to buy a carlosdrumset...but some of the drummers are saying tat carlos are actually not a good set to be bought...is it true???...i need views ASAP

i'm pretty sure it ain't a carlos mann. not too say u dun have a point. maybe he does want a drumset tht sounds like crap and falls apart after 2weeks

hey blurred FYI i'm a proud user of a carlos for the past 2 years and mine is still fine. and after a change of skins i find the sound quite to my liking.
seriously never underestimate a carlos!

here's the bottom line. there should be no more discussion on whether carlos is a good brand.
Carlos is neither wonderful, nor is it really what you'll expect if you're thinking of a tama starclassic. BUT! its something you can expect from a $500 kit.
It was meant to be an entry level kit, and its an entry level kit. So, whats the big fuss about it being good or not? its an entry level $500 kit, what can you expecting out of it?
I would say that carlos drums is worth your $500. I find it ridiculous for people to describe carlos as "crap" or "shitty" (mind my language). seriously guys, have you guys really played a carlos?
Seriously sit down and tune a carlos, and actually get a proper tone and resonance out of it before you guys pass judgement?
I for one can say that it is worth your money as i'm a user of it.
unless you're an owner of a carlos, i don't really think you can say that
it's crap buy something else.

i'm not saying that an opinion is wrong, but don't put carlos down until you've really played a carlos.

i alot of people dun own a set of DW's, and neither do alot of people. but they think its great and awesome. so all these people can't say so cause they dun own a set?
u own a set of carlos drums, and who wants to think they own a crap set of drums. no one really does. maybe ur carlos is a freak and sounds gd. hey i dun really know.
crap and shite, thts my opinion and i believe he was asking for my opinion. u think their gd, great. all the power to u man. thts ur opinion, not mine. see wat i'm getting at? ur opinion, my opinion. lets not tell each other wat to think now.

the basis of people saying that DW sounds good is from listening to it before probably live or on recordings.
i'm not telling you what to say as an opinion, its your own. but don't put it down as if you've been playing it and you've found flaws and everything. Its like looking at a picture of a bowl of noodles and tell someone that its bad before you've even tried and appreciated it.
and by the way, good and bad must always have a normal, you compare DW to Carlos of course it loses out. but if you compare among other entry level kits, i'm sure its the cheapest one you can get with decent quality. (thats not second hand)

Ming... donn't be confused... make an informed choice... you got to see and hear it for yourself... I don't mind meeting you to go drum window shopping and give you more product information... 8)

ive played a carlos at one of my prevous music schools. Surprisingly they can sound quite decent if not better than my stagestar at home. The hardware, however, is a different story.

The shells sizes as i have noticed are rather, on the huge side? (like 12',14',16',22'BD)

So to the veteran drummers/tuners/enthusiats out there, i have a question for u.

Is it easier to make a larger sized drum sing as compared to a smaller sized one with the consideration that it is of a cheaper make and with lower quality materials?

In simpler terms, would a carlos drum still be capable of sounding decent if they made them in smaller sizes such as 10' 12' 14 and 18'BD

i think the 18" bass drum would be a rather hard to come around. but you can contact music theme to custom size it. the funny thing is that Ranking doesn't do custom size carlos, but music theme does..

pardon moi for piping up. i'm highly appreciative of free speech but i'm also peace-loving (i tink i was a hippie in my past life). so jus wanna suggest a middle ground for this "exchange of opinions"... perhaps when sharing opinions, it'd be helpful to add if the opinion is based on personal experience or from feedback from friends, on whether the experience was from usage of said equipment or from observing usage of equipment...etc.

i figure it's better than assuming one has used or not used the equipment in question or has zero/some/lots of experience with the equipment.

end of the day, ming, u need to make the final decision on what is important to u, what u want out of your kit cos u're the one using it. 1 man's meat is another man's poison, what's acceptable to some pple might not work for u.

let me say 1st, in case anyone is not happy wif anything i typed or thinks my suggestion is crap, jus ignore it, dun mean to offend anyone. i'm jus kaypoh-ing around...
