Hi Everybody,

Im new to this forum, Im from India and i need to buy an electric guitar, bt my cousin staying in Singapore told me that the stuff is cheaper in Singapore so I just wanted you people to tell me that which will be the best place to buy the guitar from in Singapore.

The model Im interested in is : Fender Squier Obey HSS Stratocaster, Please tell me the cheapest price available for this there(Singapore).

Plzzzz assist me, My cousin is coming to India next week so I wanna tell him before that.

Also, are guitars available at the famous Mustafa's shopping store?, as it is duty free...

Please Help Me Out!

Thank You,

Sukrit Sachdeva

Hi Skit,

Do avoid Mustafa. They are not known for selling guitars.

Best places in Singapore to shop for guitar related stuff are

1.) Peninsular Shopping Center. (Alight at Cityhall MRT, right beside Funan the IT Mall)

There are a lot of guitar shops at the basement level. Prices are pretty competitive as well.

2.) Bras Basah Shopping Complex

Quite a few guitar shops there too.

Hi Teleplayer,

Thanks for replying,
But i have already seen Swee Lee the problem is, they have an expensive price for the guitar, the guitar is available at the same price in India too...can i get it for cheaper somewhere else?

thank you,

Sukrit Sachdeva

THank You,

Very much PHIL for the information. ALso id be grateful if u cud tell me the cheapest price for this particular guitar : Fender Obey HSS Stratocaster.
Swee Lee has it, bt its very expensive thr!

thnx again,
sukrit

you can ask your cousin to try asking guitar77 (peninsular), music theme (peninsular), ranking sports (bras basah). not sure about the price though since that guitar is not very popular...

It's not a Fender, It's a Squier. Different brands. They only distribute it at swee lee so if you can't afford it then tough luck man.

squirrel, they call it fender squier...its correct...

Anyway, u could try and ask the shops teleplayer listed out..

I think if you came to Singapore looking for a bargain for gear then you are out of luck. We aren't exactly known for cheap gear, and I'm quite sure the only place you'll find this Squier you're looking for is at Swee Lee so there isn't really much choice.

why dont you just head down and check the prices or use the shop info listed in our forum and give the shops a call to check on the pricing :)

the squier obey series are in fact just $500. they had this discount since last year. bought my obey telecaster around june 2007 i think. haha.

i'll be more than happy with spending 500 with a obey strat. eye catching, has some versatile pickups and has a 2 point whammy. so why not? hahaa. i had to spend another $300 to install a whammy into my telecaster, because im quite a freak haha.

Even if the guitar is indeed cheaper than India, you'll have to factor in the shipping costs, insurance, waiting time, the risk of damage in transit, the condition of the guitar at its point-of-sale, the playability and set-up, and many other factors, both monetary and non-monetary.

would that be worth saving the money? or would it even cost more money?

paying for what you can see, touch, play, try, listen, and take home immediately with no worries might outweigh that ambiguous cost-savings in my opinion.

I beg to differ, do you know the price difference of a guitar in Singapore compared to Malaysia?, to malaysians :

Guitars in singapore are DIRT CHEAP :D

just saying hehe
