Unreliable strings

Are D'addarios really that bad? Mine can last for 2 month without getting rusty (although the tone wouldn't last that long). Maybe it is because I keep my guitar in a gig bag every time after playing...

D'addarios rust even before the tone dies  nice tone but it sucks playing on rusty strings.

Yeah that's why they are the only brand that need that spaceship packing for their strings. :D

Anyway i'm a sucker for these..

They work great with my gotoh fr bridge. The string life is long enuff for me and they dun get 'rubbery' like eb do.. well i used to use eb but i find the strings juz gets more 'rubbery' which gives a weird feel.. tt's juz me :D

Gotta love the B-52 theme and artwork..

How much do those cost? Does it have significantly longer life that CurtMangans?

the air-tight packaging is the best consideration for the strings, this assures a 100% rust-free condition unlike envelope-packed strings.

regular blue steels last and stay in tune longer... even if u regularly abuse ur whammy bar... and the tone is great and the vacuum packaging ensures fresh untarnished sets all the time... plus u can use it ryt away and not worry of going out of tune with a fresh set... just tune it up and lock ur nut...
value for money would be regular slinkies in 10s... u can change every other week if ur gigging everynyt... =)

On the topic of envelope-packed strings, I like the fact that Ernie Balls, GHS and Dean Markleys have each string in a separate envelope, whereas for D'addarios the strings are squeezed together.

But for some reason even with envelope pack, my EBs are almost rust-free and look perfect.

For me, I'd only use EBs because they're the only brand I've never had bad experiences with before.

I used Everlys before though, they're really nice! Great feel, great tone, just that they're aren't cheap. $11 per set and must order through Brendon because there aren't any other local dealers. But Brendon mails it right to your mailbox which saves you money and time traveling to a guitar shop.

Might go for Everlys again when my budget allows, but somehow I still prefer the feel of EBs.

You guys really should try having this debate over at the Ernie Ball forum. Sterling Ball himself will come forth and smack you over the head about strings...

Anyone tried webstrings.com before? If you're breaking strings every week, you might want to consider getting a set of 12 from them. At US$2.75/pack, the physical pain from the snap will be more than the pain in your wallet :)
