Tweak fuzz-Afro fuzz- pedal mods

Im not happy with my Tweak fuzz.

Is it possible to change the transistor in the tweak to germanium, aka Afro fuzz? Sounds great in the video clip.

Any one done this before?

go here, register(certain forums with info cant be accessed till you register...), search for tweak fuzz/afro fuzz info. Theres some mentionings on swopping out the tweak fuzz trannies for different sound and a cap change to alter the sound.

heh,can add a 1 pole 12 ways switch, throw in another 6 different value caps perhaps, to add in more sound. Thats just my guess thou.

Try at own risk, otherwise, look for people who is willing to use your pedal as guinea pig, to try out

1) farnell or rscomp singapore, order over the net(depend on availability)

2) stake out simlim tower(germanium transistor not much thou)

3) order over the net with smallbearelectronic, mouser, banzai electronic or loads of other which deal with geetar effect/audio electronic

anyway, soemtime the pedal is really not design for different transistor(npn, pnp, silicon/germanium) swopped in out and still work. Either no sound or bad sound and worse still, damaged transistors etc.

instead of just looking for germanium one, take note of the existing transistors in the pedal, search for other model, within the same family, you might like to get those and try out.

The slot for the transistors on the pcb can be replaced with component socket, so you can just snap in different transitors to test, while taking note of the pin out of the original and replacement transistor

heh, the important thing not whether i think worth it or not, but more on what you wanna.
